Designer's notes[]
This was the last one I finished working on in this first launch. Again, super grateful for the opportunity to take on this model on top of the other ones despite being new to the team and the company. It's awesome that I gotta get a taste of almost all the Ninjago icons in my first run as a ninja (mech, vehicle, dragon... Guess I still need a temple to call for Bingo! :P)
I designed this one with a very similar thought process in 71781 Lloyd's Mech Battle EVO, I wanted to stay true to the EVO dragon style while keeping it fresh for the fans who try to collect them all, hence I proposed the more upright stance with the curvy neck for the water dragon. I'm also quite happy that after tons of exploration, we managed to find a fresh colour scheme that works for Nya and also pops on the box.
I might be biased, but I have to give a big shoutout to Margit for the graphics on the dragon head - it is my personal favourite out of the 6 Core dragon heads :D And thanks to the rest of the graphics team (Michael, Angel and Renato) as well for the cool figures and banner that brought the model to life, and Michael M. who did the building instruction. Teamwork![2]
