Designer's notes[]
"The Bounty was developed by me from it's earliest days when it was still a thought in my head. I was always fascinated by fantasy worlds, movies and books so I insisted on the flying ship idea to be written into the show. The show version of the Bounty has tons more features and size, this is something I couldn't do anything about, since the pricepoint of the set itself was set in stone."[2]
Trivia[]
- Another version of this set, 70738 Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty, based on Destiny's Bounty, was released in August 2015, three years after the original set was released. This marks the first time where a Ninjago set is upgraded in a set in the future.
- A third version, 70618 Destiny's Bounty was released in 2017 for The LEGO Ninjago Movie.
- A Legacy remake of this exact iteration of the Bounty was released in 2020, as 71705 Destiny's Bounty. It is the 4th version of a Destiny's Bounty LEGO has made.
- This set included Kendo variants of ninja even though Kendo armor was presumably destroyed with the Monastery of Spinjitzu before finding the Bounty in the show.
- Although Jay used his Kendo Armor when testing his new training bot in "Can of Worms", hinting that they may have been recovered or new ones were made.
- The map of the Golden Weapons is included in this set even though the ninja have found the Golden Weapons at this point.
- Excluding 71749 Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty, this is the cheapest and only Destiny's Bounty model to not be $100 USD and over.
