Designer's notes[]
Oddly enough, my favorite feature in this set is the bucket of snake venom in the prison tower. Still, had a lot of fun and challenges working on this model. 4 dragon heads are difficult to work with. Always bickering.[2]
Trivia[]
- This is the only set to include Acidicus and Skalidor.
- In the show when the Great Devourer was released from its imprisonment in the city of Ouroboros, Lloyd was a child, but in this set, he is older.
- According to the Character Encyclopedia, the snake prison is in the Underworld. However, this is incorrect.
- A recolored version of the Great Devourer's appearance in this set is used for the Ice Serpent in Shadow of Ronin.
- On the Ultra Dragon, Flame and Shard's heads are switched from their locations in the show. In the Legacy version, this was corrected.
- The Great Devourer's eyes are pink in the show and red in the sets; the same case with Pythor.
- This set breaks a trend set by three out of the four 2011 non-polybag dragon sets of including the type of dragon in the set name. 2507 Fire Temple was named after the largest model in the set rather than the dragon. 9450 Epic Dragon Battle was also released in the summer 2012 wave along with 9449 Ultra Sonic Raider potentially giving a reason for this break in the trend.
