Arc Dragons are revered dragons within a dragon tribe, fulfilling the role of leader as Matriarch or Patriarch (also called Tribe Mother and Tribe Father[3][4]) Their powers are connected to the Source Dragons through their crowns.

History[]

Background[]

Before the Merge, the Arc Dragons lived with their respective tribes in different realms.

March of the Oni[]

Dragons Rising, Season 1[]

The Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons discovered a baby dragon with the ninja aboard the Destiny's Bounty just as the ship was about to crash. Initially suspicious, the Matriarch accused the ninja of being dragon hunters like the Claws of Imperium, but Riyu defended them, insisting they were not. The ninja explained they had come to warn the dragons about the Claws of Imperium. The Matriarch, somewhat convinced, gave them a chance to prove their innocence by helping to protect the herd. During the confrontation, the dragon hunters targeted the Matriarch, but Lloyd used Riyu's powers to perform a dragon-powered Spinjitzu and defeat them, freeing the Matriarch.

Grateful, the Matriarch shared the struggles her herd had faced since the Merge and decided to relocate them to a safer location. Though concerned about Riyu's decision to join the ninja, the Matriarch recognized it as an opportunity to foster a deeper connection between the Elemental Masters and the dragons. She assured Lloyd that Riyu would always be able to find her herd when needed. The Matriarch and the herd then departed the Land of the Three Mountains.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

After Nokt escaped the Nether-Space, he and Rox, who possessed Jordana, began to plan a way to release the rest of the Forbidden Five. Since they needed Dragon Ivory to access the Nether-Space, they began to hunt Arc Dragons to steal their crowns. They attacked the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons, the Matriarch of Fallen Leaves and the Patriarch of the Northern Spiral and stole their horns.

The Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons was fatally wounded by Nokt and Rox and told Lloyd with the last of her strength that the Source Dragons were in danger. After she died, the ninja found out in one of her nursing pouches her newborn and successor and brought her to her herd. Later when the Ninja were back in the monastery, the Source Dragon of Motion came and revealed to the ninja that the Patriarch of the Northern Spiral and the Matriachin of Fallen Leaves had also died.

To find out who committed the killing spree, the ninja participated in the Tournament of the Sources. Eventually, they were led to the Monastery of Gates, where they found the three Dragon Horns. Both Nokt and Nya used the horns to free the remaining Forbidden Five, and Kai and Bonzle respectively.
