Two unnamed individuals are Arin's parents. They disappeared during The Merge, whose epicenter took place in their neighborhood, and their fate is unknown.
History[]
Background[]
Arin's parents lived in a small neighborhood along with their son, who was a fan of the ninja and dreamed of becoming one, which they seemingly supported. Arin's mother taught Arin how to bake, and whenever he was sad, she would make him a pie.[1] They would also get together and play detective games.
Inside the Maze (flashback)[]
As Arin and Riyu leave to hunt for clues, Arin thinks back to before The Merge on a day when he and his mother were sitting on a swing at their house. As she reads him a book about detectives, she asks him a question, before praising him after he gets it right.
Clues and Suspects (flashback)[]
Arin remembers a day when he and his parents were playing a detective game and how his mother taught him about believing the evidence, before his father throws his cards.
The Merge: Part 1 (flashback)[]
One day, Arin's parents watch their son practice his skills on the gate before the Merge began to occur. As they head inside, Arin's mother tells him to get inside as well, but it was too late. When the Merge concluded, Arin's neighborhood had seemingly vanished, along with his parents.
The Power Within[]
While rescuing citizens of the Crossroads, Arin sees his parents through a rift. They see him as the rift closes, but for a moment, they saw their son as a ninja, becoming aware of his dream becoming a reality.
Other appearances[]
Beyond the Phantasm Cave[]
Arin ventured into the Phantasm Cave, where a creature's electric tendrils extended towards him, signaling the beginning of the Test of Fears. Inside, he encountered a haunting illusion of his parents. Despite his desperate efforts to reach them, he found himself unable to do so. His mother questioned why he had abandoned them, pondering if the ninja had taken their place as his new family. Arin's heart filled with anguish as he cried out, only to witness his parents vanish into thin air.
The Forest of Spirits[]
After Arin gets knocked out by Ras in the Forest of Spirits, he hallucinates his parents approaching him.
Rising Ninja[]
Still hallucinating from his defeat, Arin tries to apologize to his parents, only to discover it was just Lloyd and Nya upon regaining his senses.
