- This article is about the character. For the real-life director, see Asa Tait.
Asa was an Elemental Master and one of the Children of the Wolf. He communicated through body language as he simply didn't have many things to say. Eventually, he joined Garmadon as a student along with his friends to fight against the Lycan King. He died defeating Zaiden Kane and the Lycan King with Shatterspin at the Shadow Dojo.
History[]
The Wyldness[]
Asa watched Garmadon come out of the portal to the Wyldness from a distance. Garmadon later used his sword to cut off a small bit of Asa’s hair that was sticking out from a rock. Afterward, Asa found the other children and Zuri asked Asa about his missing hair. Through a series of actions, he explained what had happened. After learning of this, Warby wanted revenge on Garmadon for messing with his brother.
A few moments later, Asa, along with the other children, stood outside the Shadow Dojo and questioned how its doors opened. Then, they saw Garmadon fly through the walls of the dojo. Thinking he had rung the Gong of Shattering and knowing the Lycan King would have heard it, they tried to find Garmadon. They later found him lying on the ground, unconscious. Just then, the Lycan King stared down at the children.
The Lycan King[]
As the Lycan King stared down at the children, Balun carried the unconscious Garmadon and told Asa to start running away. Asa looked down at the Mallet of Shattering in front of him and, out of curiosity, picked it up. This enraged the Lycan King and made it attack Asa. Warby jumped on Asa, pushing them both away from the Lycan King's attack. Asa and the other children ran away. Iriel noticed the Lycan Kings's inability to get through the gorge and Warby and Asa taunted the beast. This caused the Lycan King to strike the gorge, causing it to crumble.
Garmadon woke up with a headache and saw Asa in front of him. While Warby blamed Garmadon for their situation, the latter asked Asa for the mallet. He watched as Garmadon threw the mallet to no avail. When the Lycan King got ready to howl, Iriel tried to protect Asa from the wind. Asa stood with the other children in confusion and awe when Garmadon managed to perform Shatterspin. When the Lycan King howled, Asa, the other children, and Garmadon dodged the attack. Balun told them to get in the boat and they all sailed away. On the boat, Iriel helped Asa introduce himself to Garmadon.
When they arrived at Mama Mawa's house, Warby helped Asa off the boat while Garmadon and Zuri talked to Mama Mawa. They all went inside her house to discuss further. Inside, Asa and the other children drunk soup while Mama Mawa and Garmadon talked. Asa listened as Mama Mawa explained how the Forbidden Five used to rule the Wyldness and lead the Wolf Clan. He also sat as Mama Mawa told Lord Argus's story.
After she told the story, Mama Mawa said that the five children, Asa, Balun, Warby, Iriel and Zuri, were the last children of the wolf. She explained that only the children could defeat the Lycan King, but they needed to learn the ways of their ancestors. Mama Mawa told Garmadon he would be their teacher.
Masters and Students[]
After hearing Zuri and Garmadon engaging in a heated argument, Asa and the rest of the Children of the Wolf rushed over to their friend's aid. As they confronted Garmadon, Asa remained silent and hardly moved while the argument around him escalated to the point that Garmadon stormed off in anger.
Later that night, Asa and the others sang and danced around a campfire, with the young boy playing a tambourine when Garmadon approached him from behind and asked if he had a pair of scissors. After Asa provided these to him, Garmadon proceeded to give the boy a haircut. The next morning, Asa served as Garmadon's assistant while the other children were prepped to begin their training in the ways of Shatterspin. When asked as to why Asa didn't have to train, Garmadon replied that Asa was too young for the intense physical regime the others were to be subjected to and as such, Garmadon had felt it would be better for him to simply watch the others practice. Throughout the intense training sessions, Asa more or less did whatever he pleased, ranging from napping beneath a tree to roasting a bird over a fire and eating it alongside Garmadon.
After the Children of the Wolf had made some acceptable progress in their training and Zuri demonstrated a performance of Shatterspin, Garmadon and the older children began to celebrate with singing and dancing. Unbeknownst to any of them however, Asa stepped up to the same boulder and completely obliterated it with a burst of Shatterspin, one far stronger than anything even Garmadon had been able to achieve.
Destinies[]
While the Children of the Wolf faced their final test with Garmadon, Asa and Buck Buck were asked by Mama Mawa to forage for food. After failing to catch a rabbit, Asa followed it into the Shadow Dojo where the young boy curiously made his way to the chamber that held the Gong of Shattering. As he approached the gong, Asa's attention was turned towards a discarded Wolf Mask that had been spotted by Buck Buck. As he picked up the mask, Asa was approached by the spirits of the Wolf Mask Warriors who then surrounded the boy and asked if he was the foretold "Forbidden Sixth," a child once spoken of by the Forbidden Five who possessed an Elemental Power. Overwhelmed by what he saw and the voices he heard, Asa fainted as the Lycan King entered the darkened dojo. Upon seeing the fallen boy, the Lycan King gently lifted him into one of his paws and carried him to Lupindor, placing him atop the stone throne in the Hall of Wolves.
Homecoming[]
Awoken by the soft pelting of rain against the sides of his face, Asa awoke to find himself seated upon a throne. As the boy examined his surroundings, the Lycan King stepped forward and offered him a large leaf to serve as an umbrella against the rain, gazing upon him with sad, solemn eyes. Accepting the gift, the boy began to wander the ruined hall until Garmadon made his presence known, intent on rescuing the boy.
In the fight that ensued between Garmadon, the Children of the Wolf, and the Lycan King, Asa was taken by Mama Mawa who attempted to usher the child away from the chaos. At that moment however, the Lycan King prepared one of his petrifying howls, taking aim at Asa and Mama Mawa, though the other four children used their bodies to shield the two from the blast, being turned into stone statues themselves. Saddened by his friends' sacrifice, Asa's sorrow quickly turned into pure rage as he unleashed a powerful burst of Shatterspin against the Lycan King, striking the lycanthrope with enough force to knock him onto the ground while destroying all four Runes of Binding on his own.
After Mama Mawa revealed "herself" to be in actuality Zaiden Kane, the arch-nemesis of the Wolf Clan, Asa rescued Garmadon from one of the Lycan King's petrifying howls and pointed the way towards the Shadow Dojo. The two then fled across Lupindor, smashing apart one of the stone bridges they had crossed to delay Kane and the Lycan King. After arriving at the Shadow Dojo, Asa revealed to Garmadon that he could actually speak all this time, but hadn't had anything important to say. Aware of Garmadon's fears of ringing the gong, Asa donned a wolf mask and took the Mallet of Shattering from Garmadon before ringing the gong himself. As Kane and the Lycan King burst into the dojo, Asa turned to face the pair as the wolf mask he wore glowed with red light and was absorbed into his body.
Unleashing the true power of Shatterspin, Asa then fought hard against Kane and the Lycan King, succeeding in stealing the Spectral Crown from Kane's head. With a final declaration, Asa crushed the crown between his hands, unleashing its stored energy in an explosion as he, Kane, and the Lycan King were all enveloped in a blinding white light. When the light faded, all three were gone, leaving behind nothing but a burned scrap of Asa's clothing.
