These are the relationships of the leader of the Pyro Vipers, Aspheera.
Allies[]
Char[]
Aspheera and Char
Char is Aspheera's servant and loyal towards her. But due to his annoyance, Aspheera has to tell him to be silent.
In "Powerless," Aspheera doesn't seem to care about Char as she only came to the Ninjago Museum of History to find one of the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu and not him, and when he tried to pick up the Forbidden Scroll, she pushed him out of the way, telling him that the scroll is hers.
Char's loyalty to her wasn't high either, as he had no qualms in abandoning her side when the ninja overwhelmed her and the other serpents.
Pythor[]
- “The time for revenge is at hand. Revenge. Revenge!”
- “Revenge, revenge.”
- “What?”
- “What what?”
- “What did you say?”
- “I don't know. What did I say?”

Aspheera talking with Pythor
Pythor is a new ally of Aspheera during the events of Crystalized, although the two didn't get along well.
In "The Council of the Crystal King," as Aspheera announces the the time for revenge is near, Pythor mocks her by parroting her line "Revenge, revenge." When Aspheera asks the Anacondrai what he just said, Pythor just plays it dumb, further insulting her.
In "The Fall of the Monastery," Aspheera then started shouting for revenge, to which Pythor responded by shaking his head in annoyance and groaning.
In "Darkness Within," while Aspheera was making the ritual, Pythor can be seen mimicking her.
Vangelis[]
- “Very impressive.”
- “Praise from the fallen king. Worthless! But the admiration of Aspheera, Empress of the Serpentine. That is a praise.”
- “You dare!”

Aspheera accusing Vangelis
In "The Council of the Crystal King," the Kabuki Mask replied that the Crystal King would reveal his plan soon and then he told the villains that there was an impostor among them. All the villains, including Aspheera, were shocked and tried to find out who it was. Aspheera first accused Vangelis since he was the only one wearing a mask.
In "The Fall of the Monastery," Aspheera expresses her desire for revenge, but Vangelis reminds her that they're after the Golden Weapons.
Vangelis and Aspheera
In "The Coming of the King," shortly after the Overlord raised the Crystal Temple into the sky, Vangelis expressed his praise, but Aspheera immediately stopped him, saying that praise from a fallen king is nothing, but praise from a Serpentine Empress, that it already means something. Vangelis was angered by this insult, but before he could do anything, the Crystal King stopped the argument.
In "Return to Primeval's Eye," when the Crystal Council was sent to search for Lloyd and Harumi, Aspheera informed Vangelis that she saw something green, which annoyed Vangelis since they were in the jungle.
Harumi (formerly)[]
Enemies[]
Wu (former friend)[]
Aspheera and Wu as children
When Aspheera and Wu first met, the latter and Garmadon were put in cells for trespassing Serpentine Valley. Aspheera said that she'll free them but only if they teach her Spinjitzu, the brothers promised, but Wu was the only one who kept it. After Wu taught her Spinjitzu, she secretly overthrew King Mambo V and became queen of the Pyro Vipers. Later with the help of Garmadon, Wu stopped Aspheera with the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu and defeated her. After Mambo V was put back in the throne, he sentenced Aspheera to be trapped in a magical tomb until her sins were forgotten. When Aspheera was put in a cell, she begged Wu to free her as she did the same for him and his brother. Wu ignored her and told her that she would've brought war and suffering to all Ninjago, and he left. Once Wu left, she was filled with anger and dubbed Wu as the "Treacherous Deceiver," and swore that she'll have her revenge on him.
When they finally met again, she voiced on how she always dreamed of confronting him and was nearly successful but was defeated by Zane, but not before she mistakenly banished him when he saved Wu from being hit from the blast. Wu later visited her while she was imprisoned, where she remarked on how it was similar to their last meeting. Wu expressed disgust at her actions but she revealed that she never sought to destroy him but make him feel her pain by banishing him to the Never-Realm as she did Zane. Despite not banishing Wu, Aspheera took pleasure in knowing that she caused him great distress with his pupil's fate and laughed at how he could never get him back.
Aspheera and Wu
Years later, Nya, in her aquatic form told the ninja that she needed to be drained of her powers to return her back to human. When the ninja considered releasing Aspheera, Wu highly opposed of the idea, but eventually realized that there was no way he could reason with the ninja despite them going against the law just to save Nya. As such, when Aspheera is broken out of Kryptarium and appears at the Monastery, she is met with a cold glare from Wu, just before entering. Wu harbored a great amount of distrust towards her, as he stopped Aspheera from examining the Golden Weapons. He was always annoyed by her compromises to remain at the Monastery while the ninja tried to get her staff, but reluctantly agreed to a series of competitions with her.
After Aspheera drained Nya of her powers and returned her back to human, Wu indirectly let her peacefully leave. Some time after, Aspheera returned, with Pythor, Vangelis, and the Mechanic by her side, to confront Wu, Nya, P.I.X.A.L. and Skylor for the Golden Weapons. During the fight, Wu and Aspheera were consistently matched against each other. Despite Wu's best efforts, the heroes ultimately lost to the Crystal Council, and after they stole the Golden Weapons, Aspheera had no qualms in letting Wu and the others be killed in the explosion and destruction of the Monastery. This was later proven when Wu and the ninja with Nya, travelled to Primeval's Eye, Aspheera taunted Wu by asking him that he's still alive, and Wu was shocked to see Aspheera wielding the Sword of Fire, corrupted by crystals.
After the Dragon Formed ninja defeated their respective members of the Crystal Council and reclaimed back their Golden Weapons, Aspheera warned Wu that the Overlord would corrupt him, the ninja, and the elements of Creation, and that she would exact her revenge, just before being frozen by Zane.
Garmadon[]
Aspheera with Garmadon and Wu
At some point in his early life as a child, Garmadon and Wu were rescued by Aspheera after they were locked up for trespassing in Serpentine land. While they promised to help her, Garmadon was said to not want to uphold it and told Wu to not trust Aspheera. Garmadon's warning was accurate, as Aspheera took advantage of Wu teaching her Spinjitzu to overthrow her King and launch an invasion. When informed of this, Garmadon aided his brother in defeating Aspheera who was sealed in a pyramidal tomb for a thousand years.
When the ninja accidentally releases Aspheera, she becomes obsessed with exacting revenge on Wu. While it is unknown how she feels about Garmadon, she may detest him as well since he helped with locking her away. Fittingly, Aspheera was locked away in the cell of Kryptarium Prison that formerly housed Garmadon after his own defeat by the ninja.
Ninja (temporary allies)[]
Aspheera and the ninja
The ninja unintentionally released the fire serpent from her imprisonment. However, she was far from grateful as she was responsible for taking Kai's power and leaving the Fire Ninja powerless. For this, the ninja gained a dislike for her and tried to stop her plans from coming true but she overpowered them with her Spinjitzu. She left them trapped in the pyramid and went onto attack Ninjago City with her Pyro Vipers.
The ninja escaped and learned more of her, specifically her grudge against Wu.
When they finally met again, the ninja interfered in her attack on Wu. Most of the ninja used the second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu to combat her until Zane froze her to end the threat. However, Aspheera was not defeated so easily and took one last shot at Wu, though Zane took the blow instead and was banished to another realm.
Despite them foiling her plans, Aspheera got the last laugh in the end by banishing Zane, which devastated Wu and Zane's friends because they were likely to never get him back.
Over a year later, the ninja turn to Aspheera for help to bring Nya back from her aquatic state. At first, she is reluctant to help them due to the past, but when the ninja offer to release her from imprisonment, she eventually compiles. But the moment she gets her hands back on her staff again, she instead fires blasts at the ninja, before the New Ninja arrive, so she eventually decides to drain Nya of her powers and return her back to her physical human form again. Lloyd then escorts her to the secret tunnel, keeping his promise, which surprises Aspheera as she calmly exited and returned back to her pyramid.
However, Aspheera became enemies with the ninja again by accepting an invite to the Council of the Crystal King, and engaged in battle with her allies against the ninja, and bring them to the recently-revived Overlord during the final conflict, before being defeated again at the hands of the ninja once more.
Kai[]
- “Remember me?… It’s Kai”
- “Ninja! What do you want?”
| — Kai and Aspheera, “A Mayor Problem” |
In "Boobytraps and How to Survive Them", Aspheera recognized Kai as a Master of Fire and immediately stole his Elemental Power. Since that moment, Kai has been the ninja to despise the Serpentine sorceress the most, as he felt useless during the ninja's battle's with her.
In "Vengance is Mine!," Kai attempted to use the second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu to fight her, but Aspheera cunningly glared at her, aware that she stolen his powers, and used Spinjitzu to quickly knock him back. Later on, Kai, like the other ninja, P.I.X.A.L., and Wu, were devastated when a Aspheera seemingly destroyed Zane.
Even after her defeat and incarceration in Kryptarium Prison, Kai still held a massive grudge towards her, as proven during the ninja's quest to find Zane in the Never-Realm.
Much later on, a year after the Great Flood, Nya tells the ninja that she must be drained of her powers to return back to human. This leads the ninja to realize Aspheera might be the best bet. Despite his long grudge towards her, Kai was willing to put aside his personal strife with her in order to have his sister back.
When Kai, Zane and Lloyd meet her in Kryptarium Prison in cell one, Kai was the first to reintroduce himself to her, which once again displays his grudge towards her, before the trio broke her out.
After Aspheera eventually agreed to save Nya, Kai and the other ninja were willing to let her go, but that didn't stop her from joining the Council of the Crystal King to exact her revenge on the ninja.
After the ninja unlock their Dragon Forms, Kai fights Aspheera, and after Jay helps him out after Pythor's interference, Kai is able to reclaim the Sword of Fire back from Aspheera and purify it.
