Captain Soto's journal was a logbook kept by Soto during his days of voyage across the Endless Sea in the Destiny's Bounty. The journal was later found by Garmadon, inspiring him to travel to the Dark Island.
History[]
Pirates vs. Ninja[]
Centuries ago, Soto wrote in his journal that he had been searching for the fabled Island of Darkness for months, but to no avail, and his crew was losing hope in its existence. Soon after this, the ship sank, killing the crew and concealing the book indefinitely.
In a present-day rebuilt version of Soto's ship, Lord Garmadon became angered with the Serpentine when they failed to catch the Ultra Dragon. Storming below deck, Garmadon stumbled upon Soto's journal, which he began to read, accidentally wishing the pirates back into existence with his Mega Weapon.
Child's Play[]
Principal Noble carried the book during a field trip with his students at the Ninjago Museum of History. When the resurrected Grundle appeared, Noble to dropped the book, which was hit by the creature's venom.
The Stone Army[]
Garmadon used the journal's knowledge to start his quest for the Dark Island. Though he was betrayed by Skales and tossed to sea, Garmadon miraculously washed ashore on the island. There he met an ancient spirit known as the Overlord, who he allied with in order to increase in power so he could defeat his son and remake the world into his own image.
