“It is a trial of worthiness. Compete in a dangerous high-speed vehicle race through deadly caverns, beat the clock, and get immunity from exile.”

The Cavern Run (also known as the Temple Race[1]) is a race through which participants of the Tournament of the Sources can avoid exile from the games if they are able to reach the finish line faster than the Pace Dragon.

History[]

Millennia ago, a Cavern Run was invoked when a competitor or competitors violated the rules of the tournament. It wouldn't have been invoked for thousands of years.[2]

United We Fall[]

Zane invoked the Cavern Run after Roby and Bleckt tried to exile the ninja, believing the group had attacked Cinder. He explained what the run was and how it could give the team immunity from exile. Roby convinced Bleckt to let the Ninja run the race.

Sora, Cole, Nya and Lloyd showed up to the race with the Combo Vehicle. Roby explained to the audience that if the Ninja could beat the Pace Dragon in the race, they would not be exiled from the tournament. He commenced the race. The ninja were far ahead of the Pace Dragon when they entered the cavern’s green zone. Toxic goo burned through the Combo Vehicle. Nya and Cole used their Elemental Powers to prevent the goo from touching the vehicle. The Pace Dragon overtook them.

Truth and Lies[]

Sora split the Combo Vehicle into four to avoid the toxic goo. The four ninja ran into a cave-in inside a tunnel with no way through it. Sora combined the four vehicles into one and it managed to break through the wall. They overtook the pace dragon and win the race. Roby announced that the ninja were still in the Tournament.
