The central crystal was an infectious crystal that was used to control the Crystal Island.

History

A Sinister Shadow

After resurrecting Harumi, the Overlord gave her the central crystal, which contained his spirit inside. He told her to go to the Oni Temple and place the central crystal inside the Oni Mask of Hatred's pedestal. This made the central crystal increase its size and have the Oni Temple turn into the Crystal Temple.

Darkness Within

By performing a ritual that would give the Overlord physical form as the Crystal King, the Crystal Council used the central crystal and the Golden Weapons as the requirements for the ceremony.

The Coming of the King

Seeing that Lloyd is determined to defeat the Overlord, the latter attempts to discourage the Green Ninja by using the central crystal, bestowing the Crystal Council new powers and then make the crystal itself levitate, making the Crystal Temple airborne. Despite this, Lloyd knocked the Scythe of Destruction out of Vangelis' hands and it cracked the central crystal, making the Crystal Island tilt sideways. Shortly afterward, the Overlord restored the central crystal.

Brave But Foolish

The Overlord uses his full power of Darkness on the central crystal, crystallizing Ninjago City.

Dragon Form

During the final battle, the Overlord begins to charge the central crystal.

Roots

The Overlord continues to use his powers on the central crystal to charge the Crystal Island, having it crystallized the ninja. However, when the Golden Ultra Dragon emerged from the Golden Weapons, the dragon battled against the Overlord and eventually slammed him on the Crystal Temple, destroying the central crystal as a result.
