- Not be confused with Nadakhan's pirate crew, the Sky Pirates.
The pirates of the Destiny's Bounty are a crew commanded by Captain Soto, founded two hundred years ago prior to present day before they sunk along with their ship. They were inadvertently resurrected when Garmadon wished for a better crew using the Mega Weapon after discovering Soto's logbook.
History[]
Prior to Pirates vs. Ninja[]
Two hundred years before their inadvertent revival, the pirates of the Destiny's Bounty were an infamous and motley crew. During their reign, they defeated the dreaded Misfortune's Keep, marooning her crew across the sixteen realms, and imprisoning her captain, Nadakhan, within the Teapot of Tyrahn. Unfortunately, luck would run out for the Destiny's Bounty and her crew during an ill-fated voyage in search of the legendary Dark Island. On one night after many months of fruitless searching, the crew decided to enjoy themselves while putting No-Eyed Pete in charge of steering. This decision unfortunately, would cost the crew their lives as the blind crew member would crash their ship against a wall of stone, sinking the Destiny's Bounty and taking the lives of all who sailed upon her.
Legacy of the Green Ninja[]
The crew would be resurrected two hundred years after their deaths by Garmadon through the Mega Weapon. Although Garmadon attempted to take command over the crew, stating that he had created them, the pirates immediately mutinied against Garmadon, imprisoning him and his scaly friends in the brig of the Destiny's Bounty before resuming their quest of plundering this strange, new world that they found themselves in. Unfortunately, the crew's plundering would be short lived, and they were defeated not long after by a strange group of masked pajama men, losing their now flying ship in the process.
Sometime later, Soto and a few members of his crew, after seeming acclimating to the modern day, participated in the Ninjaball Run with a van with a roof mounted cannon. Unfortunately, the pirates would be the first competitors to be eliminated from the race, as Soto had unfortunately chosen No-Eyed Pete to serve as their driver, resulting in them crashing into yet another stone wall.
Prior to Tournament of Elements[]
At some point, Soto's crew came into conflict with Chen and his Anacondrai Cultists, as Chen desired Soto's peg leg for his Hall of Fame. The pirates were outmatched and Soto's leg was stolen.[1]

Culture[]
The pirates live by the code of piracy and steal what doesn’t belong to them. Most pirates seem to have a song to sing. They use flags to represent their crew, mostly use cannons and swords as weaponry and travel by ship on sea.

Trivia[]
- The pirates' singing is done by Jay Vincent and Michael Kramer, the series' composers.[2]
- One of the pirates (first from left in the above image) has the same face as the Mechanic before Season 11.
- When asked about it, Tommy Andreasen implied that they are the same character, stating, "What's a pirate to do when his Captain in jail? Work for another crime boss of course!"[3]
- One of the pirates has the hair of characters from LEGO's Islanders theme, while two others have the same hair as Rufus McCallister, originally used on Will Turner from LEGO's Pirates of the Caribbean theme.
- Some of the pirates, specifically the First Mate and the pirate with the Islanders hair, use belt designs from the ninja's trainee suits.
- In "Infamous," the pirates' time period is mentioned on Infovision to be "the era of the Stone Warrior," but this could not refer to either the original Stone Warrior era (thousands of years ago) or the more recent Stone Warrior era (the events of the second half of Legacy of the Green Ninja), because the pirates' era was confirmed in "Pirates vs. Ninja" to take place two hundred years ago. Tommy Andreasen explained that "the era of the Stone Warrior" referred to in the episode could be referring to another time in which several Stone Warrior statues were uncovered.[4]
