“One day, as the First Spinjitzu Master meditated, he foresaw an event when all the realms would crash together. He called this event "the Coalescence", and he knew its time would soon be upon them. So he appeared before the seven Source Dragons and begged of them to freely give energy so he could forge three Dragon Cores. The Dragon Cores kept the Coalescence at bay. The realms were prevented from smashing into one another.”

The Dragon Cores were extraordinary orb-like relics forged from the energy of the seven Source Dragons, containing their immense power in a concentrated form. Initially, there were only three Dragon Cores until Jordana harnessed the raw energy of the Source Dragon of Energy to create a fourth one, albeit it was destroyed shortly thereafter. Subsequently, Lloyd used the remaining Dragon Cores to quell the MergeQuakes. However, in a selfless act, he ultimately sacrificed the Dragon Cores to liberate the captive Source Dragon from his confinement.

History[]

Background[]

To prevent the Coalescence, the First Spinjitzu Master sought assistance from the Source Dragons and requested their dragon power. Utilizing their energy, he forged three Dragon Cores, which effectively halted the Coalescence and prevented the merging of realms. However, due to concerns regarding the potential misuse of the cores by malevolent forces, the First Spinjitzu Master made the decision to conceal the Dragon Cores in three distinct locations, entrusting them to different beings. The purple Dragon Core was entrusted to the Lava-Tides residing in the Wyldness, while the pink Dragon Core was bestowed upon the Mucoids dwelling in the Mother Garden. Lastly, the yellow Dragon Core was entrusted to its guardian in the Pinnacle of Crystals.[1][2][3]

However, as centuries went by, the guardian of the yellow Dragon Core unfortunately lost possession of the core, which would later end up at the Land of Lost Things. It was there that the original owner of the Rookery stumbled upon the yellow Dragon Core. With great ingenuity, the owner constructed a specialized machine specifically tailored for the yellow Dragon Core. The Rookery was eventually stumbled upon by runaways known as the Finders. During their time, they soon discovered the yellow Dragon Core and its machine, which could repel the Hoarder.[4]

Writers of Destiny[]

In an attempt to find what could put an end to the MergeQuakes, the ninja went with Marcus to the Cloud Kingdom archives, hoping that the Scroll-Worms could find it for them. But because of the curse put on them, a Scroll-Worm stopped mid-sentence before it could mention the three Dragon Cores, and began to attack the ninja and Marcus.

Mindless Beasts[]

While looking for answers about the Merge, Nya looked at brief information about the Dragon Cores and the temple that reveals their locations.

Official description[]

LEGO Brawls[]

The First Spinjitzu Master created three Dragon Cores, yellow, purple and pink that are linked in ancient scrolls to a coalescence. Nya believes they have the power to stop MergeQuakes for good. The location of these Cores is hidden at the temple to the Dragon Cores inside the World Tree. The existence of these Cores leads the ninja to believe that the First Spinjitzu Master and his son Master Wu predicted the Merge and believed that they had the means to prevent it. Lloyd uses the three Cores to end the MergeQuakes and free the Source Dragon from below the Imperium.[5]

    • The three Dragon Cores created by the First Spinjitzu Master are said to be yellow, purple, and pink in the official descriptions of LEGO Brawls and the episodes,[6] and the Ninjago Magazine,[7] but in the show, they all appear with a golden yellow color.
  • They were originally called Dragon Orbs.
