Like Son, Like Father[]
Kai and Ray are playing a video game together. Kai gets Ray to use a combined special move, which he does, scoring them another victory. As they come down from the elation, they decide to do something else. Ray suggests a walk through Ninjago City. The two make their way towards the Ninjago Museum of History, where an art exhibit depicting 'Ancient Myths & Legends'. They stop at a painting of Nyad battling Wojira, where Kai regales Ray about the Amulets of Wojira. Kai then decides he wants to take his dad to the skate park.
Once they're there, a nearby child lends Kai their skateboard. He proceeds to pull off some tricks, impressing his dad and the child. Kai tells Ray that skating is a great form of exercise. Ray has a different idea for a fun form of exercise. Kai returns the skateboard and follows his dad. The Fire Ninja is led to a ballroom dancing class, much to his surprise. Ray assures him that it is a great way to hone one's body awareness. Kai is hesitant, more so when he learns that Ray will be his dance partner. Ray tells Kai that dancing is no different to martial arts. Kai ends up enjoying himself and the two impress the other students. After the class, Kai excitedly takes Ray to a rock concert, performed by Ninja Pogo. Kai loves rocking out with the others, but Ray is not so sure.
The two leave after a while and try to think of something that they would both enjoy. Suddenly, they notice a Karate Tournament happening at Grand Sensei Dareth's Mojo Dojo. The two enter and ask Dareth if they can join. He excitedly tells them they can, as he was hoping some real ninja would join the tournament. Half an hour later, a crowd has formed and the father and son duo are in the ring with a rag tag group of fighters. Kai suggest they use Spinjitzu to take them out easily, but Ray suggest they play fair and use simple karate moves. Even with this crutch, the two make it through to the semi-final rounds easily. Ray takes on Scooter, he goes low, while the biker goes high, giving Ray an easy victory, moving him to the grand final. Kai takes on Sqiffy in his round, which he does so easily with a single blow. Dareth excitedly announces Kai and Ray as the finalists. The two ask each other who should take the victory; which they decide on Kai taking the win. Kai gives Ray a small tap on the arm, to which he falls over dramatically. Dareth announces Kai as the winner and places a medal around his neck.
Out of the crowd, Miss Demeanor emerges, laughing. She turns to a group of her henchmen, gleefully announcing that she swapped the real gold medal out for a vengestone medal. She commands her henchman to sieze the Fire Ninja. Kai and Ray are surprised by the stage intruders, but Kai is ready to use his powers on them. Unfortunately, the necklace negates his powers, much to his surprise. Miss Demeanor announces what she's done, to which Kai says he will simply take it off. The villain presses a button on a remote, which tightens the chain around Kai's neck, making it impossible to remove. Kai is unsure how they'll take care of the henchmen, but Ray reminds him to trust his own abilities. The two remember the video game they played earlier and replicate the special move that won them the game. With only a few crooks left standing, the two then repeat their dance moves from the ballroom dance class, taking out the rest of the goons. Miss Demeanor retreats angrily. Kai and Ray then leave the Dojo, with Dareth yelling behind them that he'll put on a dance competition next time they visit.

- The events of the comic take place during "The Call of the Deep".
- As well as Scooter and Sqiffy, the participants of the karate tournament are Lasha, Kruncha, Monkey Wretch and a Dragon hunter.

- The painting of Wojira in the comic is the same illustration as the scroll Wu opened in "A Big Splash".
- One of the included posters is the promotional poster for Season 14: Seabound.
Errors[]
- While talking about Wojira and the Battle of Nine Days with Ray, Kai described the Wave Amulet to be the second Storm Amulet. Despite him and the other ninja knowing that both amulets are different in "A Big Splash."
- When the magazine was featuring the first three episodes of Seabound, Storm and Wave were said to be Elemental Powers. Even though they are actually elemental abilities that consist with Water and Wind.[1]
- The fact page on the Elemental powers of Fire and Water erroneously refers to Nyad as a 'he'.
- The same fact page states that the Elemental Alliance fought Wojira, which is impossible.
- Ray is drawn in his Hands of Time blacksmith outfit, rather than his casual outfit. He is also drawn with gray hair throughout the comic.
