Fortress of Doom! is the 96th issue of the Ninjago Magazine. It includes 892296 Vengestone Guard and Fugitive Lloyd and Garmadon appears on the cover. The comic, written by Jan Dinter, is titled Hot Air!. It was released on the 29th of November 2022 in Germany.
Hot Air![]
After recusing Lloyd with the Destiny's Bounty, the Ninja attempt a hasty escape from Primeval's Eye, but are stopped by an army of Dragonides. While fighting against the crystal beasts, Zane reported that he attempted to fly his jet close enough to the Crystal Temple to stem the flow of dragonides, only to suddenly lose power as he approached. Zane then informed Nya that he intended to infiltrate the Crystal Temple, but he would need her to pilot his jet in the meantime. Agreeing to Zane's plan, Nya leapt into the cockpit while Zane exited and stood on the jet's nose in preparation to make a jump towards the floating temple. After flying close enough to the temple without losing power, Zane leapt down towards the temple's side and discovered a ventilation shaft. He would then proceed to crawl through the shaft to infiltrate the temple's interior with the intention of disabling its energy shielding. Unfortunately, after exiting the shaft, Zane would find himself face to face with a large force of Vengestone Warriors.
Nonplussed, Zane attempted to fight the crystal warriors with blasts of Ice, only to quickly discover, after his ice powers failed to materialize, that these warriors were made of Vengestone. In light of this discovery, Zane decided to opt for his backup plan: immediate retreat. Pursued by the Vengestone Warriors, Zane managed to make his way to the hanger where the dragonides had been deployed from, After briefly calculating the optimal escape route, Zane leapt out of the hanger and onto multiple dragonides before finally making his way back to his jet. As the dragonides suddenly broke off their attack, Nya would dock the jet to Destiny's Bounty so she could safely exit and transfer the pilot seat back to Zane who informed her that his mission to disrupt the Crystal Temple's energy shields had been unsuccessful. After Nya disembarked, Zane flew off towards the rice fields in pursuit of the Crystal Temple, noting that Kai, Jay, and Cole had already been deployed to intercept the temple and he would rendezvous with them there.
