“Blame me, buddy.”
“For what?”
“For making you think Ras's teaching weren't trash.”
“I'm a stronger Ninja now than I ever was before.”
“If you think Ras can teach you to be a better Ninja than Lloyd, maybe you don't understand what a Ninja really is.”
— Frak and Arin, "Chaos Unchained"

Frak Slitherbottom[2] is a Serpentine hybrid, Arin's childhood best friend, the current Elemental Master of Quake, one of Lord Ras' former students, and one of Lloyd's ninja students, also training under Kai and Cole. He competed in the Tournament of the Sources alongside the other Elemental Masters of his generation under the Wolf Clan banner. Following his defeat in the Tournament and his refusal to use a Wolf Mask, Ras kicked him out of the Clan. Frak eventually joined the ninja at the end of the Tournament after he helped them fight the Wolf Mask Warriors, becoming Lloyd's third student.

After Zane managed to find a clue that could lead them to Arin, Frak joined Lloyd, Sora, Zane, Riyu, and Zanth in their search for his best friend. During their quest, they discovered the Forbidden Five's objective to find all five Prismatic Blades to free Thunderfang. The mission to stop them leads him to reunite with Arin, who temporarily joins them to stop the Forbidden Five and Thunderfang, but also to save Ras. After Thunderfang is defeated, Frak is saddened when both Arin and Sora decide to leave the team to go with Ras, due to the latter's claims of being able to bring back Arin's parents. When returning to the monastery, Frak and the other Ninja learn from Jay that Arin's parents are still alive.

While training under Cole and Kai, with Lloyd leading a team to search for Arin's parents, Frak ends up feeling the earth screaming the same way Cole sensed before. The three ninja follow the same clue Cole once followed at Master Wu's request and, together, they unearth the skeletal remains of the Source Dragon of Balance (the Source Dragon killed before the Merge). When returning to the Land of Lost Things, they found it being attacked by Nokt and spectral Dragonian Warriors, who removed the souls of Fritz, Spitz, and Bonzle. While trying to save them and the inhabitants of Imperium, Frak and Kai had their Prismatic Blades upgraded to be more effective and, despite managing to fend them off and release some of the stolen souls, Cole's soul was stolen. Frak and Kai then reunited with the others to help against Thunderfang, with the former going with Sora, Riyu, Wyldfyre, and Zanth to Djinjago to awaken the tan half of the Arc Dragon of Focus.

Personality[]

Frak is a brave and honest person who strongly believes in doing what is right. Even as a kid, he helped Arin when he was bullied, which shows his kind nature. He is also a bit naive, since at some point after the Merge, he was manipulated by Lord Ras and recruited to the Wolf Clan so he could attend the Tournament of the Sources. However, he refused to wear a Wolf Mask during a match because it went against his beliefs and because Arin revealed that the Wolf Mask eventually shatters all goodness in the user's soul if the Gong is used enough times. This shows that he values his morals more than following orders. Even when facing challenges, Frak stays strong and determined. He is also very loyal to his friends, always standing by them no matter what.

Very much like Arin, Frak is a great admirer of the Ninja, especially Cole (his favorite). Despite initially siding with Ras' team, Frak never once showed hostility against his heroes, considering it a great honor to fight against Cole and even seeking his advice about using the latter's element, even if that caused problems with Ras. After joining the Ninja and becoming Lloyd's student, Frak had some difficulty in separating himself from Ras' teachings, but his dedication allowed him to adopt the Ninja's fighting style of relying on other sources of strength, not just physical. Additionally, due to previously being one of Ras' students, Frak would try to prove himself worthy, with that sometimes leading to some unfortunate results.

However, Frak ultimately proves himself as a decent person where he shows a great deal of remorse for causing Arin to stray that he took it upon himself to blame himself for the mess. Additionally, when Frak reunites with Arin, he shows no hostility and accepts his rejection since Frak acknowledges his mistakes.

Despite being friendly and easygoing, Frak is often bad at social cues and often fumbles at small talk as Sora would point out. However, he is extremely passionate for the art of pie-baking, having accumulated binders of entire recipes and he gets excited about passing along his knowledge to Sora, the same way he did with Arin. He is also a fan of Intelligent George much like Arin, believing in conspiracies (like gravity not existing) and being afraid of supernatural things such as living puppets (resulting in Frak developing a phobia of them), the Oni, and even dark locations like the Spectral Lands.

Appearance[]

Frak is a young hybrid Serpentine with legs who has skin composed of oranges scales and a lime crest at the back of his head. He has the same head shape as the snake warriors and the eel Merlopians but with a shorter neck. He has lime eyes, a reddish forked tongue, and two fangs sticking out of his mouth like all Serpentine. Unlike many of his peers, he and his parents wears classic clothes.

As a child, Frak had a shorter neck and smaller legs.

During the Tournament of Sources, Frak wears both the tournament suit and a Wolf Clan outfit which is dark grey with purple and dark red details similar to Cinder’s outfit, crimson gloves, and a gray Wolf Clan armor with a right shoulder pad of the same color and a left shoulder pad made of three blue claws.

As a ninja, Frak wore at first a black and lime green dojo gi and then after Thunderfang's banishment to the Spectral Lands, a grey and lime suit with a lime hood/mask combo.

Abilities[]

  • Quake: As the Elemental Master of Quake, Frak can create, manipulate, and generate vibrations. This allows him to create earthquake by channeling vibrations into the ground but he can also use his power on any materials, as long he can vibrate them. He can only vibrate solid matter.
  • Elemental Powers (briefly): With enough skill, Frak was able to use the Elemental Powers he won during the Tournament of the Sources, such as Earth, Ice, Reflex and at least one unknown power.[3]
  • Serpentine Physiology: As a hybrid of a Serpentine, Frak has the following abilities:
    • Superhuman Strength: Being a Serpentine, Frak possessed super physical strength beyond that of an average human being, as he managed to destroy some of the Monastery's training equipment. Frak can also use Quake to increase his strikes and weaken structures to pull them out.
    • Superhuman reflexes: Even without the elemental power of Reflex, Frak has faster reflexes than a human, being able to keep up with Zur for a brief time.
    • Superhuman Senses: Being a Serpentine, Frak can smell using the tip of his tongue, allowing him to sense which direction a smell is coming.
  • Skilled combatant: Thanks to Ras' training, Frak became a very good combatant, infusing his Quake power into his strikes along with the other temporary elemental powers. Frak's skills allowed him to fight off Chaos-empowered wolf warriors, despite being powerless and unarmed. When joining the ninja, Frak learned to balance the aggressive style he learned from Ras, while also learning Spinjitzu. Later on, he was shown to skillfully fight off Dragonian warriors.
    • Swordsmanship: Although he has yet to possess a signature weapon, Frak is a competent swordsman, managing to take out many Spectral Dragonians with his newly-acquired Reveal Blade.
  • Baking: Frak was the one to teach Arin how to bake pies and the latter said the former is even better than him.
  • Singing: Frak is shown to possess a great singing voice, which was shown when he harmonized with Sora when the two were practicing the notes they would need to play to awaken the half of the Arc Dragon of Focus located in Djinjago.

Trivia[]

  • His existence and status of joining the Ninja was first revealed by Sam Vincent on Cameo in 2023. Frak wouldn’t be seen or mentioned until "Enter the City of Temples" and he wouldn’t be seen as a member of the Ninja until "The Missing".[citation needed]
  • He has a modified version of the orange head mold of the snake warriors.
    • Unlike the snake warriors who have dark grey as their secondary color, Frak has a light green crest and light green eyes, which he gets from his mother, who has completely green skin and green eyes and he gets his orange skin from his father.
  • He is chronologically the second known Serpentine to be an Elemental Master, the first one is an unknown Hypnobrai.
  • He's the first main ninja to be introduced as a member of the season's villainous faction, having previously part to the Wolf Clan. Lloyd briefly controlled the Hypnobrai, Fangpyre, and Pythor before defecting. Skylor was a member of the Anacondrai Cultists before defecting, but she didn't join the ninja's team, as she only became an ally.
  • He is the first Serpentine to be a ninja.
    • Additionally, he is the second member of the ninja not to be human, the first being Zane.
  • He is the second Serpentine hybrid, the first being Clancee.[1]
  • He is currently the youngest ninja, as he was born at least after the Attack of the Great Devourer, due to being a hybrid and the Serpentine being separated beforehand (for almost 40 years), along with the Serpentine having a quick early development.
  • He has a crush on Sora.[4][5]
  • Frak's ninja suit in Season 3 contains a recolored version of the torso of the apprentices from 71787 Creative Ninja Brick Box while his legs are a recolor of the ninja's dojo suits.
    • This is not the first time Frak wears a suit inspired by an existing Ninjago figure, as his Wolf Clan suit was based on the wolf warriors' suit and Cinder's tournament suit.
    • It is also similar to Lloyd's movie outfit based on the green and black color scheme on his suit.
    • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, the green in Frak's ninja suit isn't meant to represent that Frak is Lloyd's student.[6]
    • The pattern found on the left side of his suit is also found on the leg printing of the snake warriors, and the emblem on the back of his suit is the same as that of the snake warriors.
  • He has an interest in Speleology (the study of caves) as a hobby. This fits his elemental power of Quake, one of the elements related to the ground and rocks, and matches his admiration towards Cole, the Earth Ninja.
  • Frak has perfect pitch.[7]
  • He is currently the only member of the ninja to not receive a minifigure until the following season after his debut, and even then, he did not receive a minifigure until the Summer wave of Dragons Rising Season 3 sets.
  • He is one of seven current Elemental Masters to have a known last name: the others being Lloyd, Jay, Zane, Skylor, Griffin, and Zeatrix.
