“When you first arrived I was skeptical. But I had become old and tired, without inspiration, and it was clear I misjudged you. You are worthy students and have given this old dragon the spark of hope that Rising Dragon Technique will be passed on.”

The crack

In Mysterium, Cole, Zane, and Bonzle enter the monastery, where the former two wonder if it's similar to their own monastery before Cole finds a crack in the shape of a noodle bowl in the wall, which he and Jay made during an argument. As they continue to ponder, the yellow orb suddenly appears to them before heading inside the monastery. This piques Cole's curiosity, leading him to question Zane about it. Zane reveals that the other doesn't have much information, only that they have encountered it previously. Soon, someone emerges from the door, revealing herself to be Gandalaria, Bonzle's creator.

Wyldfyre tells Egalt about the Wasting Sickness

At Egalt and Rontu's dojo, Arin, upset at his demotion, attempts to destroy three pillars with Spinjitzu, but only succeeded with two, even brushes off Sora's attempts to comfort him. While he was meditating, Egalt is approached by Wyldfyre, who explains that the dragons in the Wyldness heard about him and Rontu, one mountain even named after the former. She then goes on to say she knows he is suffering from a disease called Wasting Sickness, which he denies, until Wyldfyre tells him she saw his shedding scales had blackness on them and being irritating are symptoms, but was unsure about the latter symptom because of his attitude, and explains that she lost some of her dragon family to it, even offering him a stew to help ease the pain, which he accepts.

Gandalaria and Bonzle reunited

Back at the Mysterium Monastery, Gandalaria believes Cole, Zane, and Bonzle are slug merchants, until told otherwise before offering to turn them into slugs, but Cole declines on everyone's behalf. Gandalaria soon looked at Bonzle and was completely surprised to see her, recognizing her essence, rather than her physical form.

FFM107

Lloyd and Rontu, speaking about the visions

At the dojo, Lloyd and Rontu drink tea before Lloyd explains how he had been getting visions which is interfering in his training before Rontu explains they're after effects, due to being a conduit for the Source Dragon of Energy and that Source Dragons can see alternate versions of the future before Lloyd suddenly gets one of Cole, Zane, and Bonzle being ambushed by Wolf Mask Warriors, Bonzle restrained before Ras approaches her, raising the Mallet of Shattering high, Cole stating what comes next will kill someone, Kai and Sora fighting some Wolf Mask Warriors before a portal opens to the Forbidden Five, and the Blood Moon. Warning the others, they immediately return to training.

The Administration arrives

At the Mysterium Monastery, Gandalaria is warned by Cole and Zane about Ras' intention to use Bonzle to bring the Forbidden Five back, which Gandalaria disbelieves, until told that Ras has learnt about the Ritual of the Blood Moon that'll help bring them back from the Cloud Kingdom archives. Having wandered the merged worlds, Gandalaria explains she keeps her spells in storage at the Wyldness before taking up residence in the monastery. Their conversation is soon interrupted by a knock at the door and discover it's Administration Agents, who demand for the return of Zane.

Kai unlocks the Rising Dragon

At the dojo, after Kai's failed attempt, Nya volunteers to assist him, reminding the two about the time they played Counter Shot, a game they made up as kids, which Egalt reluctantly accepts. After moving through the course, Nya allows Kai to move further, eventually he managed to achieve Rising Dragon.

The Dragon Masters turn to stone

Promoting Kai to Third Fang, Egalt voices his changed doubts about humans, until the Blood Moon rises, witnessed by Ras and the Wolf Clan in the Cloud Kingdom, Alfonzo Frohicky, Geo, Fritz, and Spitz at the Spinjitzu Monastery, and Cole, Zane, Bonzle, Gandalaria, and the Administration Agents at the Mysterium Monastery. With the Blood Moon fully risen, Rontu confesses it is also a bane for her and Egalt, who expresses his hope the Source Dragons are on the Ninja's side, until they both turn to stone.

Agent Jay Walker returns

At the Mysterium Monastery, Zane tries to negotiate his surrender to the Administration Agents, who refuse as they had classified him as equipment and deemed to be incinerated. As Zane keeps trying to negotiate his friends' release, Agent Allen informs the former that they'll face punishment under strict guidelines. As they prepare to head for Jiro, Agent Underwood informs them he is impounded, claws and jaw bound with clamps. As they prepare to breach, Zane reminds them they need a form to breach. Using it as a distraction, Gandalaria reprimands the three for bringing the Administration to her monastery as she doesn't have many approved items. Learning they had been tracking him since he, Cole, and Bonzle had passed through the Land of Madness, Zane tries to take the blame, but Cole insists he is also to blame before the approval form is slid under the monastery gate. Zane reads it, only to find it was missing appendixes before returning it to the agents as Gandalaria plans to conjure an escape tunnel, but it would be too long. The agents then returned the form before Zane tells them it needs to be in triplicate and returns it to them. Gandalaria sends Bonzle to hide under the passages and has the yellow orb guide her while the former, Cole, and Zane hold off the agents as they had just breached the walls in the Master Mechs, Allen holding out the approved forms. As they reach the tunnels, Bonzle and Sprite are soon ambushed by another agent: Jay.

Trivia[]

  • Chris "Doc" Wyatt stated that this was his favorite episode of the series to write.[5]
  • This is the first episode to feature all the classic ninja in the present day since "Roots."
  • The form Zane reads is written 'This is a generic form' in Ninjargon multiple times, similar to the episode, "The Administration," which was the first appearance of the Administration Agents.

Continuity[]

  • Kai and Nya appear in their pre-movie designs for the first time in the franchise since "Lost in Time," and for the first time overall since Master of the 4th Dimension.
    • Kai's hair was used from the pre-S8 LEGO sets rather than his actual hairpiece used in the TV show before Sons of Garmadon.
  • This is the first appearance of the Four Weapons Blacksmith shop and Ignacia since "Pause and Effect," and also the first time both locations have appeared in the WildBrain animation style.
  • When Jay shows up at the end of the episode, the music that plays is the same rendition of the Overture that played in "The Administration" when he appeared halfway through that episode.

Errors[]

  • On the YouTube version, when Cole explains how Gandalaria's monastery is similar, his mouth isn't in sync.
  • In the flashback scene with Kai and Nya, Kai lacks his freckles despite having them in the flashbacks of "A Time of Traitors" and "Pause and Effect." This is also similar to child Kai from "Child's Play" also not having freckles.
  • It is unknown why the Blacksmith shop has a different design, because in "Pause and Effect" during the flashbacks the shop sported the same design it did back in "Way of the Ninja".
  • When Gandalaria is rapidly moving her arms around to shoot lightning at Administration agents on the roof, her hair clips through her arms several times.
  • The Administration agents say that Zane is considered equipment, not personnel. However, several Administration agents are Nindroids like Zane.
