— Fungus to Cole in "Masters Never Quit" |
Fungus is a member of the Upply and a skilled magician.
History
Fungus, along with Plundar, and Korgran, took on the same request Vangelis sent them to complete. They were assigned to retrieve the Skull of Hazza D'ur from the dangerous Dungeons of Shintaro and bring it back to Vangelis so it can be destroyed.
After meeting Adam, the three make it through the traps easily and find the skull. However, when Korgran touches it, Dark Magic seeps through his body, so he drops it. The group realizes the skull is evil, so they carry it using Korgran's axe.
The Lowly make it back to the Ivory City, but Vangelis has different plans. He tells the group they can possess so much power, but the Lowly insist that the Skull of Hazza D'ur must be destroyed. After realizing the truth, Vangelis presses a button, and the Lowly fall through a pit.
The Real Fall
Fungus and the Lowly welcome Cole when he arrives at Rock-Bottom.
Dungeon Party!
Fungus greets Cole after he wakes up. He introduces himself and when Cole asks if they can go on another quest, he backs down. Korgran then explains why they don't want to go on another adventure.
After Korgran explains their story, Cole promises to help the Lowly and renames them to the "Upply."
Dungeon Crawl!
Fungus and the Lowly explore the caverns to find a way out, but the Lowly don't find anything. When Cole discovers his Elemental Energy, the Upply follow Cole as they swim out of Rock-Bottom and find themselves at a lava stream.
While crossing, they encounter a Magma Monster. Fungus uses his Magic to freeze the Magma Monster which gives time for Adam to push a boulder on top of the beast.
Masters Never Quit
Fungus and the Lowly are chased by the Magma Monster. They find some mine carts and decide to ride it. After it's all over, they find themselves at the Heart of the Mountain. Fungus and the Lowly explore the ancient temple and discover Cole's mother performed the Spinjitzu Burst. The Lowly watch Cole try to perform it, but he fails at it.
Fungus performs some magic which allows them to see the ninja. However, they are running away from Grief-Bringer.
The Ascent
Fungus helps attach wheels to Fire Stone Mech and ride in one of the mine carts while Cole uses the mech to push the carts. During their ride, the Lowly encounter the Magma Monster and Dire Bats, so Fungus uses his Magic to ward off the attacks. When Cole is busy fighting the Magma Monster, the mine carts almost head into the lava, but Cole saves everyone and they reach the Ivory City. The Lowly then cheer and chant "Upply."
The Upply head to the Throne Room and free Chompy. They then encounter Hailmar and the other Winged Guards of Shintaro who demand Cole's arrest. However, they resist and Cole and the Upply flee.
The Upply Strike Back!
Fungus, Cole, and the rest of the Upply discover the ninja locked in a cage while the Geckles and Munce are back working. Cole assigns Fungus and Korgran to liberate everyone.
Korgran beats an Awakened Warriors attempting to whip Murtessa. Fungus then gives her the keys and tells everyone to free themselves when they give the signal.
As Cole is fighting the Skull Sorcerer, Fungus and Korgran jump into action. They tell the Geckles and Munce to free themselves so they could join in.
The Son of Lilly
Fungus helps the Upply, Geckles, Munce, and ninja fight the Awakened Warriors. Although they are overwhelmed, Vania and the Winged Guards of Shintaro aid them as well. Cole then unlocks the Spinjitzu Burst and the Awakened Warriors and Grief-Bringer are destroyed.
Fungus watches Vania become queen and promise equality for everyone. Fungus then says farewell to Cole as he leaves.
Appearance
Fungus has chin length black hair and mustache. Before being trapped at Rock-Bottom, he mainly wore a tall, white hat as well as a long, white robe with a brown belt to cover himself. He also has brown gloves and boots and a white cape that is lilac from the inside and held by a white and gray-purple chestplate. During the years of imprisonment at Rock-Bottom, his uniform was stained with dirt and fungi/mushrooms began growing on his hat as well as his shirt. After Vangelis was dethroned and Vania was crowned queen, his uniform appears to have been cleaned.
In the anime-styled scenes of "Dungeon Party!," he is shown to wear his boots underneath his robe, his gloves are shown to be fingerless, and he has a large gray-purple collar surrounding the back of his neck.
Powers and Abilities
Being a skilled magician, Fungus relies on his Magic to get him and the rest of the Upply out of tough situations. He mainly uses mushrooms to blow up objects or enemies as well as mushrooms which can freeze everything in plain sight.
Although not a fighting ability, Fungus also has the capability to see events that are going on in the present time.
