“We better head to the Games Plaza. First event's coming up, and Roby, trying to make everything as "exciting as possible," won't tell anyone who's competing until the event itself.”

The Games Plaza is a venue located in the City of Temples. It serves as the battleground for the Tournament of the Sources.

History[]

Enter the City of Temples[]

Inside the Maze[]

As the sun set, Bleckt and Roby made their way to the games plaza to inaugurate the Tournament of the Sources. As they entered the area, several Elemental Masters were already there and practicing for the matches to come.

For the day's first event, Zane was pitted against Zur in a classic battle to knock one's opponent out of the fighting ring. Despite Zane's best efforts, Zur was able to defeat him. For the second event, Nya was pitted against Jay to climb across a series of platforms in a race for a dagger. In this challenge, Nya prevailed by focusing on the challenge while Jay seemed determined to defeat Nya in combat and lost sight of the game's goal.

United We Fall[]

The next day, the games continued starting off with Sora against Kizzy in a highwire obstacle course race to kick a kettle drum. Although the Master of Balance had a natural advantage in this challenge, Sora managed to out speed her and strike the drum first thanks to Rontu's teachings. For the next match, Wyldfyre went against Cinder in a game of capture the flag. Unfortunately, Wyldfyre let her emotions get to the best of her, prioritizing revenge against Cinder over completing the objective. Like Jay from the day before, this decision resulted in her downfall and a win for the opposing team.

Truth and Lies[]

Following the Cavern Run, the Tournament of the Sources continued! In this day's matches, Zeatrix was pitted in combat against Euphrasia in a battle of balance: the first to fall from their platform would be eliminated. Despite Euphrasia's best efforts, Zeatrix was able to pull ahead, threatening Ras as she walked out from the plaza. The next game saw Nokt against Tox in a hoop throwing game, which ended prematurely after Nokt began to brutalize his opponent with Shatterspin, critically injuring her to the point she had to be taken away on a stretcher. For the next match, Lloyd went against Mr. Pale in yet another high-platform combat game. After some banter between the two, Lloyd was able to easily secure a win after coating the invisible Master of Light in dust. For the day's fourth match, Frak went against Cole in a climbing race to ring a bell. As this game progressed, Cole noticed that the climbing arena seemed to have been designed specifically with Frak's element of Quake in mind, as the Serpent was able to greatly influence the metallic structure with his vibrations while Cole's element of Earth was rendered almost entirely ineffective. Following his loss, Cole bitterly commented on the unfairness of the area with his team as Nya was brought in again for her second match, this time against Nokt in a race to collect two out of three holographic gems.

In the fifth game of the day, Nya and Nokt were each able to secure one gem each before engaging in a prolonged fight for the third. After Nya successfully rammed Nokt away with Rising Dragon, she lunged for the third gem only for it to disappear before her eyes, just mere seconds before her fingers could touch it. Then without warning, the same gem reappeared right beside Nokt who, while confused for a few seconds, quickly grabbed it to secure his victory. Although Nya attempted to protest this chain of events with Roby, he dismissed her complaints as merely being part of the unpredictability of the games. Following this game, the tournament held an intermission before calling forth the final two competitors of the day: Sora and Cinder in a puzzle solving race. In the day's final game, Sora managed to easily and effortlessly win by first entrapping her opponent once more in an energy shield, thus granting her a substantial amount of time to progress through the game's puzzle. When Cinder finally escaped the trap, he unfortunately allowed his arrogance and anger to overtake him, resulting in his immediate defeat when he failed to notice a gap between the platforms and fell.

The Sword Shatters[]

In the evening hours, a total of ten games were hosted. For the first round, Frak was pitted against Zur in a game of Grid Drop. Thanks to Cole's advice on using his newfound powers over Earth, Frak was able to recover from a near loss and win by striking Zur from underneath with a large pillar of stone, hurling the Devonian into the spectator stands. The next eight matches were the following, with the winners of each match listed first: Lloyd vs. Arccrack; Algu vs. Teelk; Geo vs. Gorge; Zeatrix vs. Mord; Nokt vs. Neuro; Lloyd vs. Geo; Zeatrix vs. Algu; and Sora vs. Chamille.

At the end of the evening's events, Lloyd and Sora expressed a sigh of relief, noting that today's matches had been quite exhausting - nearly overwhelming in fact. Just then, Roby announced that he had arranged one final match for the night, featuring Lloyd against Zeatrix in an all-out brawl with weapons in an event he dubbed, "The Gauntlet." In this game, the fighters began on opposite ends of a raised platform. Surrounding them on both sides, and protected by rotary fans, were racks that each held a singular weapon. In this match, both fighters were to fight with any and all Elemental Powers at their disposal, with the aim being to knock the opponent off the platform; however, the finishing blow had to be made with one of the weapons offered on both sides of the platform.

As the match began, Lloyd focused on obtaining the Yellow Prismatic Blade, having experienced repeated visions of himself being struck down by that very sword by Zeatrix. As the match progressed, the blade was briefly lost in the chaos of their fight until the platform itself was split in two from the sheer intensity of the battle. In response, Roby called for an intermission while they repaired the platform and restocked the weapons. After the platform was makeshiftly repaired with planks of wood and nails, the battle began once more! This time, Lloyd chose not to focus on obtaining the prismatic blade, believing instead that he could defy his visions by refusing to allow them to control him. Thanks to his newly gained powers of Size, Lloyd managed to defeat Zeatrix with a hammer, proudly smiling towards his team and believing he had overcome his visions. Unfortunately, Lloyd rested too soon and seconds later, a very angry Zeatrix leaped back atop the platform with the prismatic blade and furiously struck Lloyd in the back and off the platform, shattering the blade from the force of her blow. Now lying on the ground, the last thing Lloyd saw before losing consciousness was his team gathering around him with worry and concern evident across their faces.

Clues and Suspects[]

Two matches were hosted at the games plaza today. For the first match, Sora fought against Frak atop a levitated platform, with the objective being to knock off your opponent. During the match, both fighters showcased great proficiency in their acquired elemental powers, seemingly locked in an even match. As they fought, Sora questioned Frak about his allegiance to Ras though Frak insisted that the Ninja were wrong about his master. After nearly being knocked off the platform by Sora however, Frak managed to rebound and counter attack before pulling out a Wolf Mask to unleash Shatterspin for the first time. As he stared triumphantly at the mask however, Frak's confident smile slowly faded as he recalled Arin's warnings about the mask's powers to corrupt their wearers, causing him to hesitate. In spite of Ras' shouts and orders for Frak to put on the mask, Frak instead chose to discard it over the side before resuming his match against Sora. While honorable, this decision would ultimately cost Frak both the match and his place inside the Wolf Clan, being cast out by a furious and disappointed Ras.

Some time later, Roby announced the second match of the day: a battle between Nokt and Lloyd, the latter of whom was believed to have been in a coma since morning. Realizing the gravity surrounding this particular match, Roby explained to the gathered competitors and spectators that the games had to go on, with or without Lloyd, and since the Green Ninja was a no-show, Nokt would be declared the winner by default. At that moment, Lloyd slowly walked into the Games Plaza, evidently still badly hurt, but insistent that he was well enough to participate in the match. After Lloyd was granted the powers he won from Zeatrix, the match now began in earnest with both fighters unleashing torrents of elemental power. After Lloyd's performance of a shaking Rising Dragon however, Bleckt stopped the fight, having judged that Lloyd was evidently not well enough to continue fighting and the game's rules clearly specified and outlined that injured combatants were forbidden from continuing in the games. With Nokt declared the winner by default, Lloyd's powers were then transferred to him.

The Final Game[]

As night fell, all made their way to the games plaza for the final game of the tournament. For the final game, the tournament would end the way it began with a one vs. one all-out match between Sora and Nokt. As the fight began, Nokt dismissed Sora as an equal rival, expressing his surprise that she was the one facing against him in the finale. In response to his gloating, Sora shot back that she had faced parents like him before and an entire realm just like him even. Uninterested, Nokt pretended to yawn and asked if her "sob story" was over yet before charging up his Shatterspin, intending to end the match before it even began. Unfortunately for Nokt, he would soon find out exactly how Sora made it this far after Sora tricked him into shattering a vibrating barrier of ice with a wave of Shatterspin energy, hurling him far away with the force of the explosion; while he had relied primarily on strength and brutally crushing anyone in his way, Sora had relied on her intellect to outsmart and outmaneuver more her oftentimes more skilled opponents. The fight that followed was intense, with both fighters demonstrating their control over the variety of elements they now commanded in a furious display of power.

At some point, Nokt pinned Sora to the ground and taunted her, remarking that anything she could do, he could do better. When his back was turned however, Sora spotted the Control implant on the back of his neck and used her powers of technology to remove and transform it into a mechanized bee. Although Nokt laughed at Sora's creation, he soon found out that the bee had quite the sting, delivering the same electrical shock as the implant. Now brought down to his knees, Sora leapt into the air and raised her fist for the final blow. To her surprise however, the arena suddenly shifted, rolling Nokt out of the way as Sora struck empty ground. This sudden shift ultimately gave Nokt enough time to recover and defeat Sora with a wave of Shatterspin energy, knocking her unconscious as Roby proclaimed Nokt as the winner.

After Sora's recovery, a podium was raised into the center of the Games Plaza as Roby prepared to deliver the victory ceremony to formally declare Nokt as the champion. Before he could continue however, Wyldfyre and Zur walked into the plaza as Wyldfyre called out, "Objection!" She would then reveal Bleckt's rigging of the Tournament to everyone gathered, revealing that he had given the Wolf Clan a slight edge in certain games as well as being behind the Attacker bots. As Bleckt visibly shook and seethed with rage in light of his wrongs being exposed, Roby expressed a sense of disappointment in his uncle, turning to him to ask why. Unable to control his anger any longer, Bleckt exploded, unleashing all the pent up years of hate and frustration towards his nephew as he explained his motivations behind helping the Wolf Clan. Disgusted and disappointed with his uncle's betrayal, Roby declared the cancellation of the winner's coronation and closing ceremony, but Nokt had other plans in mind.

With a brutal strike, Nokt attacked Roby and forcibly transferred the remaining elemental powers to himself, attacking Sora, Lloyd, Wyldfyre, and Zur afterwards as well. When Ras expressed satisfaction with Nokt's performance and informed him they would be going to the Cauldron of Realms, Nokt frowned, having forgotten entirely about Ras in the last few moments. With a sly smile, he turned towards his soon to be former commander and smirked. "I don't work for you anymore, Ras." he said. This insubordination immediately infuriated Ras who pulled out the remote for the control implant and began pressing it in vain, not realizing that Sora had removed it in the final match. At this moment, Rox revealed herself and her possession of Jordana as well, standing beside her brother as both revealed their intentions to free the rest of the Forbidden Five. In anger, Ras summoned Cinder and the entirety of the Wolf Clan to his aid, warning Nokt and Rox that he would give them one last opportunity to come with him willingly or through force. Undeterred by the arrival of Ras' forces, Rox laughed and gave a knowing smile as her hands began to glow. Using Theroxian magic, Rox then corrupted the entirety of Ras' forces, including Cinder, bending them to her will as she unleashed the true powers of the Wolf Masks. Frustrated by this turn of events, Ras lunged at the two but was blasted away by Nokt. Rox then turned towards her new army and ordered them to destroy every single person present at the games.

Elements of Betrayal[]

Following the corruption of the Wolf Clan, the Games Plaza became a battleground between the now powerless Elemental Masters, Ras, and the city's Security Bots against the Wolf Clan. After a long battle, the empowered Wolf Mask Warriors were able to overwhelm the powerless Elemental Masters, but the tide quickly turned once all elements were restored to their hosts.

Following the escape of the Forbidden Five and the defeat of the Wolf Clan, Roby formally declared Sora as the champion of the tournament as he hosted the closing ceremony as originally planned.
