Garmadon's Dark Fortress is a tower in the Underworld that served as the ruler of the Underworld's main base of operations.
History[]
An Underworldly Takeover (flashback)[]
After being banished to the Underworld, Garmadon landed inside the fortress' courtyard, where he would immediately be confronted by a group of Skulkin and Samukai, the latter of whom seemed gleeful to see his old foe once again. Garmadon then challenged and defeated Samukai in a duel for leadership over the Underworld and claimed the fortress for himself following his victory.
The Golden Weapon[]
Samukai arrived in the Dark Fortress to inform Lord Garmadon of the ninja's progress by learning Spinjitzu and obtaining the Scythe of Quakes. The Skulkin General thought he had failed, but Lord Garmadon was pleased with the information, going on to tell Samukai that everything was going according to plan.
King of Shadows[]
After Lord Garmadon summoned the Fire Dragon to attack the ninja, Master Wu was forced to travel to the Underworld via the Fire Temple with the Sword of Fire in his possession.
Weapons of Destiny[]
Upon falling into the Underworld, Master Wu traveled to the Dark Fortress where he was greeted by Lord Garmadon. As Master Wu drew the Sword of Fire, Lord Garmadon sent a small group of Skulkin to attack Master Wu—though the effort was fruitless as he quickly fended them off using Spinjitzu.
The villain then sent Samukai out to fight. Master Wu tried his best to keep up with the battle, but he was at a disadvantage thanks to the Golden Weapons that Samukai had used. Lord Garmadon commanded the Skulkin General to hand over the Weapons, but Samukai disobeyed Lord Garmadon's orders and grabbed it for himself. However, because all four weapons were too powerful to wield at once, Samukai disintegrated, which created a vortex for Lord Garmadon to escape through.
As the portal lingered, Lord Garmadon said his goodbyes to the group of ninja before walking inside, leaving the Golden Weapons behind and ultimately abandoning the fortress.
The Kaiju Protocol[]
Wu and P.I.X.A.L. try to open a portal to the Never-Realm. But the Traveler's Tea wasn't strong enough. At one point, a portal to the Underworld was opened, revealing the Skulkin, their vehicles, and the fortress.
LEGO.com description[]
A castle in the Underworld, which served as Garmadon’s base of operation during the time he was exiled there. This fortress previously belonged to Samukai, but he was deposed from it when Garmadon took over the realm. This gloomy edifice still stands in the Underworld, now home to the Skeleton Army generals.[1]
