“It's a myth from the Wyldness. Supposedly, someone can hit the gong with that mallet and it releases their dark energies.”

The Gong of Shattering is a special gong paired with the Mallet of Shattering, created for the Wolf Clan to tap into dark energy. When struck by the mallet, it channels this dark power to those wearing Wolf Masks, effectively shattering any goodness within them. In particular, it can allow an Elemental Master wearing a Wolf Mask to gain access to Shatterspin.

History[]

Background[]

Argus mallet

Lord Argus ringing the gong

The Gong of Shattering was once used by the Forbidden Five, who used it to empower their army of Wolf Mask Warriors. After they were banished to the Nether-Space, Lord Argus took over the Wolf Clan and was approached by Zaiden Kane, who manipulated him to ring the gong, which he did. By this act, Argus was turned into the Lycan King and all of the Wyldness was cursed into half-existence. After that, the gong was sealed alongside the Mallet of Shattering and all the Wolf Masks inside the Shadow Dojo never to be opened again.[1]

Shatterspin[]

Garmadon entered the Shadow Dojo and saw the gong at the back of the room. He picked up the Mallet of Shattering and threw it in a fit of rage. The mallet hit the gong and rang it. The force from the hit pushed Garmadon through the walls of the dojo and further into the Forest of Spirits. The Children of the Wolf witnessed this. Knowing the Lycan King would have heard the gong ring, they tried to find Garmadon.

Abilities[]

  • Physical Enhancement - When the gong is hit by the Mallet of Shattering, its powers can shatter a person’s goodness in their soul in order to grant the wolf warriors enhanced physical powers by supercharging them into the Wolf Mask Claw Warriors, where they manifest claw gauntlets strong enough to tear apart even fused objects. However, the mallet has to hit the gong every few seconds to continue the empowerment since it can leave the wearers powerless when not doing so.
    • Shatterspin accessibility - Elemental Masters who wear the Wolf Masks when the gong is hit by the mallet can access Shatterspin.
    • Lycanthrope curse - Formerly, when the gong was struck with the mallet by someone unworthy, someone without Elemental Powers, it would curse the person by turning them into a lycanthrope.
