The Heart of the Mountain is an ancient temple located deep in the Dungeons of Shintaro. Elemental Masters of Earth seemingly trained here, as it is a place surrounded by the very element they command and are the master of.
It features statues of past Earth Elementals, including one of Lilly which was crafted by the Geckles and the Munce, in gratitude for her effort to destroy Grief-Bringer. A mural is carved into the ground of the temple, depicting how Lilly destroyed the dragon. The Stone Mech was also stored there.
History[]
Masters Never Quit[]
Cole, the Upply, Wu, and Vania crash into an unknown place and Cole feels a strong presence. Wu realizes they are at the Heart of the Mountain, and the Elemental Energy reveals the architecture of the temple. They also find the Stone Mech, but cannot operate it.
From the designs of the floor, Cole discovers his mother was able to perform the Spinjitzu Burst, so he tries but fails. He attempts multiple times, but cannot succeed. He finally walks out on the group and heads outside. Wu follows him and apologizes for not doing his job and promises to be a better master.
The Ascent[]
The Upply help install wheels to the Stone Mech and Cole uses the mech to push the mine carts out of the temple.

Season 13: Master of the Mountain[]
- 156. "Masters Never Quit"
- 158. "The Ascent"
Behind the scenes[]
- It was originally called the "Temple of Earth Elementals".[1]
Trivia[]
- The Heart of the Mountain is similar to the Hero's Forge from the Dreamworks animation Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia. Both are training grounds with statues of the predecessors of who is supposed to be training there (Trollhunters for the Hero's Forge, Elemental Masters of Earth for the Heart of the Mountain).
- In the carving showing Lilly beginning to do the Burst, the Blades of Deliverance seem to be represented as one katana.
- According to Bragi Schut, the other statues in the temple "are earlier Elemental Masters of Earth, whose names and histories may or may not be revealed in later episodes."[2]
- It was confirmed that a statue of Cole was built in the temple off-screen shortly after the ninja left Shintaro.[3]
- In the The Splinter in the Blind Man's Eye, it is revealed that there are temples for each element of Creation, with the Heart of the Mountain and the Temple of Ice being respectively the Temple of the Masters of Earth and the Masters of Ice, but the novel is could-be canon.
- It is unknown if the Fire Temple is the equivalent for the Masters of Fire, since it lacks statues of previous masters, and an Ice Temple was also used to hide one of the Golden Weapons.
