Heatwave is a Lava Dragon that serves as the patriarch of his tribe residing in the Lava Wastes. He raised Wyldfyre in the Wyldness ever since she was just a baby.
History[]
Early life[]
Heatwave used to reside by himself in the Lava Wastes within the Realm of the Wyldness. One day, he discovered a robot, who asked him to help care for a baby girl it had inside. While at first, not fond of the girl, named Wyldfyre, he eventually started to care for her, even letting her lie on his chest whenever he was on his back, when raising Wyldfyre, many of the other Fire Dragons fell ill to the deadly Wasting Sickness,[3] leaving Heatwave as her only guardian. Heatwave stayed by her side when the Merge had occurred and Wyldfyre discovering she had become the Elemental Master of Heat. Several years after the Merge, however, Heatwave was kidnapped by the Claws of Imperium and was taken to Imperium to be drained.
Dragons Rising, Season 1[]
Mindless Beasts[]
After Wyldfyre was rescued by Lloyd, she had him come along to rescue Heatwave, where he flew in a rage upon seeing the former in Imperium garbs, until Wyldfyre managed to calm him down before eventually freeing the other dragons.
I Will Be the Danger[]
Wyldfyre rode on Heatwave's back as he and the other dragons held in the Imperium Prison escaped and began to run through the city itself. As the group of dragons continued to run towards the city gates, they were met with a force of Claw Hunters, whom they literally ran through, with Heatwave trampling over Rapton in particular.
When the dragons were confronted at the gates to the City by Rapton and his Claw Hunters again, now riding atop Photacs, Heatwave and Wyldfyre singled out Rapton and his Photac beast. Heatwave breathed fire against Rapton's mount, leading the dragon hunter to mock the pair for failing to understand his warning of 'indestructible.'
The Calm Inside[]
Heatwave and the other dragons continued to fight against Rapton's platoon and their Photacs, although as the battle progressed, the tide began to ever slowly turn in favor of the Claw Hunters. At one point in the battle, Heatwave laid on his side as he was pinned down by three Photacs while Wyldfyre defended him. He soon recovered however and was seen breathing fire at an opponent just before Lloyd ordered the dragons to regroup and attack the Imperium Palace. At the palace, Heatwave was seen battling against Photacs and briefly ceased fighting alongside all other combatants when the Monastery of Imperium emerged from the ground, surprising all parties who looked on in awe.
The Battle of the Second Monastery[]
Heatwave continues fighting alongside Lloyd, Kai, Zane, Nya, Wyldfyre, and the other dragons until they seek shelter in the Imperium Monastery before Arin and Sora eventually return with Sora disabling the Photacs and escape through a portal. Days later, Heatwave moves into the Monastery of Spinjitzu with Wyldfyre, who lies on his chest while he laid on his back on the roof.
The Temple of the Dragon Cores[]
Heatwave flies with Wyldfyre riding him as they accompany the Ninja and the other dragons in stopping a MergeQuake and saving some citizens caught up in the disaster it caused. He and Wyldfyre later play together by running circles around each other before eventually stopping. The following morning, Heatwave flies with the others to the Temple of the Dragon Cores, where, while waiting for Zane to finish analyzing the door, Heatwave fell asleep with Wyldfyre resting on his back.
Wyldly Inappropriate[]
Heatwave ferried Kai and Wyldfyre to the Greenbone Warriors' forest, where he wound up chained by the skeleton warriors after Wyldfyre stole their gems. When the two ninja began their escape from the forest, Heatwave blasted off his confinements and hurled away one of the skeletons guarding him before flying off with Kai and Wyldfyre on his back. He would then ferry them to the Lava-Tide Village in search of the Purple Dragon Core.
They Call It Doom[]
Heatwave helps Kai and Wyldfyre escape Dorama, his stagehands, and the Lava-Tides, but ends up injured in the process.
Land of Lost Things[]
As Heatwave tried to heal from his injury, Kai and Wyldfyre applied melted crystals from geodes onto the wound to aid in the recovery process.
The Administration[]
Heatwave slowly started to heal from his injuries while Kai was teaching Wyldfyre patience. Eventually, he was well enough to surprise Wyldfyre by licking her from behind.
The Power Within[]
Heatwave had a race with Zanth and Jiro following the MergeQuake Storm.
Dragons Rising, Season 2[]
Beyond the Phantasm Cave[]
Heatwave and Kai briefly took care of Wyldfyre after she broke her leg during her fight with Cinder at the Cloud Kingdom.
The Shape of Motion[]
Some time after the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Heatwave and Zanth brought Wyldfyre, Lloyd, and Nya to the Land of Madness to regroup with Arin, Sora and Riyu after the latter group found the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons dying. Wyldfyre introduced herself and Heatwave to the Arc Dragon as the Patriarch of the Fire Dragons tribe. When the Matriarch eventually succumbed, Heatwave, Zanth, Riyu, and Wyldfyre let out a roar of mourning.
After the ninja found the Matriarch's baby in her nursing pouch, Heatwave, Zanth and Riyu led them to the World Forest to find the tribe of the baby dragon, with Heatwave ferrying Wyldfyre and Nya. When the group was attacked by the Freebooters during their travel, Heatwave fought them and notably saved Lloyd from free falling. They were finally saved from their attackers by some Mountain Dragons who then escorted them to their nest. Heatwave and the group entrusted the baby matriarch to her tribe and returned to the monastery.
Enter the City of Temples[]
Later, Heatwave, Jiro, and Zanth ferried the ninja to the Dragon Stone Shrine to enter the Tournament of the Sources, with Heatwave carrying Wyldfyre on his back. After the Ninja were denied entrance, they decided to forcibly enter the City of Temples by flying on the dragons' backs, being confronted by Security Bots in the process. Heatwave and his allies fought against the Security Bots, spewing fireballs against their attackers. After Jiro suggested to Lloyd for the Ninja to finish climbing to the the city with their Dragon Hooks, Heatwave and the other dragons covered for them, with Heatwave notably blasting two Security Bots with fireballs. After finishing off the Security Bots, Heatwave returned to the Monastery[4] alongside Jiro and Zanth.
