Hover cars were a type of vehicle for personal or commercial uses that was invented by Cyrus Borg and manufactured by Borg Industries some time after the The Final Battle. Hover cars were similar to conventional cars, except they replaced their wheels with propulsion lifts, enabling them to levitate off the ground and even fly. Despite their ingenuity, hover cars were almost exclusively driven in New Ninjago City and were discontinued following the Nindroid crisis after Cyrus Borg, their creator, vowed to find a balance between technology and Ninjago's previous standard of living.
History[]
Prior to Rebooted[]
At some point after The Final Battle, where most of Ninjago City was left in ruin, an inventor named Cyrus Borg encouraged and inspired his fellow citizens to rebuild with a focus on innovation and technology. Borg himself would go on to establish his company, Borg Industries, in the heart of the city, where he would invent and manufacture the hover car as part of his vision for the city's future.
The Surge[]
As the ninja drove into New Ninjago City with their students for a field trip to Borg Tower, they were amazed to see how much Ninjago City had progressed since they had last been there. Amongst the sights included countless hover cars, one of which was a mail carrier that Nya would crash their bus into as her attention drifted away from the road. Angered by the incident, the Postman stuck his head outside of his vehicle, yelling in disgust as to who used physical wheels anymore on their vehicles.
After receiving the Techno Blades from Borg, the Overlord initiated a takeover of New Ninjago City's interconnected technologies, including several hover cars that began to run haywire with their passengers trapped inside. Meanwhile, the ninja's students arrived at Borg Tower's factory wing, where they briefly witnessed the beginnings of construction on several hover cars before the Overlord's influence reached the manufacturing wing's machinery.
The Art of the Silent Fist[]
Damaged and disabled hover cars littered the streets of New Ninjago City the morning following the ninja's escape with the Techno Blades.
The Curse of the Golden Master[]
After returning to New Ninjago City, the ninja discovered that the streets were still littered with the broken remains of countless hover cars. As they accidentally set off a trip wire, a large pile of broken hover cars tipped over and large group of civilians in post-apocalyptic themed dress emerged from atop the pile, screaming gibberish at the ninja, much to the latter group's confusion.
Enter the Digiverse[]
Broken hover cars continued to litter the streets of New Ninjago City.
Codename: Arcturus[]
With power restored to Ninjago, functioning hover cars were briefly seen driving along the road outside of the diner that Kai was hanging out at as well as in the streets of New Ninjago City.
The Titanium Ninja[]
Hover cars were seen parked along the streets of New Ninjago City as the Overlord began his rampage with his mech. A small group of hover cars, and their occupants, managed to escape New Ninjago City however.
As the ninja made their way into New Ninjago City, which the Overlord had converted into a stronghold, Cole used his mech to smash through a garage full of hover cars, barely missing one whose driver was sitting inside. Other hover cars were seen being levitated in a spinning ring around the Overlord and his mech as the Ninja breached the city walls. Later, while the ninja sought refuge within the walls of the Temple of Fortitude, the Overlord continued his rampage throughout New Ninjago City, destroying multiple hover cars in the process.
As the ninja, now donning armor made from the Overlord's own Stone Warriors, began their advance towards him, the Overlord attempted to slow their advance with a barrier of hover cars. Unfortunately, the stone armor's ability to resist golden power was able to simply disperse the barrier of hover cars once the ninja advanced closer. In response, the Overlord decided to attack the citizens of Ninjago in an effort to divert the ninja's focus, blowing up a portion of one of the nearby buildings and sending down large chunks of concrete, one of which crushed a hover car on the street.
Following the defeat of the Overlord, Borg Industries discontinued the hover car after Cyrus Borg vowed to find a balance between technology and humanity in honor of Zane and his sacrifice.
