Kuma is a wild bear that protects Glimwillow Woods.
History[]
Garmadon Issue 2[]
At the request of the elders of Two Moon Village, Renzo and Kenzo, Garmadon, Min, and the Two Moon Village Commandos set out in search of Kuma to defeat her so that the villagers could continue harvesting Glimwillow Lilies at their leisure to use in the production of Two Moon Tea. As the group made their way to Kuma's lair, the Commandos admitted that they had never actually seen Kuma before, leading them to mistake a particularly large bear with extensive scarring to be her. Garmadon attacked and eventually defeated this bear, declaring victory over "Kuma." At that moment, the real Kuma awakened, revealing herself to be as large as the mountain she dwelled in, and demanded to know who had disturbed her slumber. As she stared down the group of villagers, Kuma expressed her surprise that the humans have grown bold enough to attack her children in addition to stealing their lilies from the Glimwillow Woods. She then turned towards Garmadon, realizing that he was not human, but rather instead he reeked of Oni blood. With a single swipe of her paw, Kuma easily swatted away Garmadon and the Commandos, to which Garmadon chortled that he was finally going to get to enjoy a "real" fight.
As Kuma and Garmadon fought, the Guardian of Glimwillow Woods conceded that Garmadon was powerful by mortal standards, but she was as old and strong as the forest itself, easily slamming Garmadon against the cave walls with her paws. For the next several moments, Garmadon relied predominantly on dodging Kuma's swipes, irritating the bear who warned that Garmadon could not dodge forever. At that moment, Garmadon stopped to cheekily reply that he wouldn't have to dodge any further: while it seemed like he was merely avoiding Kuma's attacks, the former dark lord had in actuality been cleverly striking at the stalactites on the ceiling until a large portion of the ceiling collapsed, burying Kuma beneath the rubble.
Garmadon Issue 5[]
Several days later, after Mogra and his Red Crows took over both the Two Moon Village and the Glimwillow Woods, the villagers of Two Moon Village and the Bears of Glimwillow Woods joined together to defeat their common enemy. Working together, the groups succeeded in freeing Kuma from the rubble Garmadon had previously buried her with. Upon regaining her freedom, Kuma was surprised by the sight of humans and her bears working together, demanding to know what kind of trickery was deceiving her. The villagers insisted that there was no trickery, but rather they had formed an alliance to defeat a common enemy that had driven both groups from their homes, and they now came together to request Kuma for her aid. Kuma considered the villagers' offer, but was reluctant due to their siding with Garmadon. When one of the villagers nudged the Oni to say something, he dismissively and sarcastically congratulated Kuma on her efforts in their earlier battle, claiming that he had won easily, but Kuma put in some "decent" effort. Unfortunately, his comments only served to infuriate the recently freed bear, who still harbored a grudge against Garmadon for burying her in the first place, and she raised a paw in the air to crush Garmadon and the villagers with, denouncing Garmadon as a "Vile Oni." Before the blow could be struck however, Kuma paused when she spotted Garmadon's attempt to protect the villagers by throwing himself in front of them. Acknowledging that Garmadon has changed, Kuma decided to spare him and the villagers, but made it clear she did not trust any of them. In response, Min pleaded with Kuma, acknowledging that after since she and the other villagers had been driven from their homes by the Red Crows, they realized how it must have felt to the bears when the villagers were intruding on their homes in the Glimwillow Woods. Min asked for Kuma's forgiveness, to which the Guardian reluctantly agreed to.
Under the leadership of Garmadon, Kuma participated in the Liberation of Two Moon Village, initiating the battle by destroying a large segment of wall that Mogra and several of his biker subordinates had been standing on. Throughout the battle, Kuma fought against the Red Crows, destroying multiple motorcycles, including one belonging to Killow. As the Red Crows retreated, an infuriated Mogra used the Two Moon Tea to amplify his powers, cursing Kuma as he flew up and breathed fire on her. Fortunately for Kuma, Garmadon would arrive to challenge Mogra, declaring that the warlord's fight was with him. In the fight that ensued, Garmadon managed to tap into his Oni form and blasted Mogra with a powerful blast of Destruction, seemingly disintegrating the warlord and ending the battle.
Afterwards, Kuma warned the village elders that Mogra may have survived, and if he did, both Two Moon Village and the Glimwillow Woods would always be at threat. In reply, the elders remarked that should Mogra returned, the alliance between the Two Moon Villagers and the Bears of Glimwillow Woods will defeat him again.
