Lord Mogra was the leader of the Red Crows.
History[]
Background[]
In the First Serpentine War, Mogra was once an ally to the Elemental Alliance, but eventually defected to the side of the Serpentine and Chen for desires to be a king. In one battle, Mogra faced Garmadon, who had defected to the Elemental Alliance and easily bested him before attempting to bring him on his side. His plot was foiled by Wu, who showed up with reinforcements, including Ray and Maya, and the two brothers used Spinjitzu to defeat him. Mogra was eventually arrested, but not before warning Wu of his greatest battle yet to come, one that will begin when the "snake in his garden grows into a serpent,"[1] while casting an aside glance towards Garmadon. To reassure his brother, Garmadon dismissed Mogra's words as those of a madman.[2] Mogra was presumably executed for his crimes against the alliance.
Somehow, Mogra mysteriously returned soon thereafter. Since then, he plotted revenge on Garmadon by planning to take away everything he has and destroy him. After the Oni's invasion, he took Garmadon's helmet after Wu discarded it, and later broke the Sons of Garmadon out of Kryptarium Prison, becoming their new leader and rebranding them as the Red Crows. Mogra and the Red Crows began to terrorize villagers from Two Moon Village, forcing them to make Two Moon Tea and give it to him.
Garmadon Issue 1[]
When Ultra Violet returned to the Red Crows headquarters, Lord Mogra was sitting on his throne. She then told him that Garmadon had returned, what Mogra had asked her if she was still loyal to him, as she had once been one of his generals. When she told him no, Mogra stood up and replied that even though the ride of the Sons of Garmadon was over, the Red Crows shall fly forever.
Garmadon Issue 2[]
Lord Mogra and the Red Crows arrive at Two Moon Village on motorcycles. When Renzo asks Mogra if he is there for the tea, Mogra replies that he is just there for a social visit. Mogra asks if the village has had any visitors lately, but when refused he asks again using a description of Garmadon's appearance. Renzo admits in a panic to having seen him. Mogra tells Renzo to calm himself, and says he'd just like to leave him a message. Later, Mogra and the rest of the Red Crows overrun Two Moon Village and burn it down.
Garmadon Issue 3[]
Lord Mogra attacks Garmadon in Two Moon Village. He orders Ultra Violet to finish loading up the Two Moon Tea. Mogra gets angry after Garmadon orders Ultra Violet to find his drumstick, which she does. Mogra says he's used Garmadon's army and reputation to make the Two Moon Villagers to do his bidding, giving them nothing in return.
Mogra says he will crush Garmadon and begin his reign. The two fight, damaging the village. Both Mogra and Garmadon use Two Moon Tea in the fight. Mogra brings Garmadon into the sky, asking if Garmadon recognises him. Garmadon recognises Mogra's voice, before getting burnt and launched down to earth.
Garmadon Issue 4[]
Mogra tells the Two Moon villagers that he restored peace and defeated Garmadon. He then says he and the Red Crows will make their permanant base in the village, which he renames to "New Mograton". He then gets Ultra Violet's report that there's no sign of Garmadon.
Garmadon Issue 5[]
Following Killow's forces success at driving out the Bears of Glimwillow Woods, he, Mogra, and Ultra Violet planned the next steps in the Red Crows' conquest of Ninjago. Mogra ordered Ultra Violet to prepare a wagon of Two Moon Tea, intending to offer it as a gift to the Serpentine in the hopes of establishing an alliance with them. Mogra's musings would be interrupted by several bikers who told him he had to see what was going on outside the village. After peeking above one of the village walls, Mogra found to his surprise, Garmadon leading a massive army of bears. As Garmadon challenged Mogra to face him, the latter laughed and sarcastically asked if Garmadon was going to throw a bear at him. Seconds later, Kuma attacked the village, shattering the length of wall that Mogra had been standing on with a single swipe of her paw, sending the warlord flying. Infuriated, Mogra empowered himself with the Two Moon Tea before ordering the Red Crows to attack.
In the fight that followed, Mogra at one point breathed fire on Kuma before being tackled by Garmadon. As Mogra mocked him, reminding Garmadon of his earlier defeat even when empowered by the Two Moon Tea, Garmadon responded by forcefully pouring all of Mogra's tea containers down his throat, amplifying Mogra's powers far beyond his ability to control them. Enraged, Mogra vowed that if he was to die, he was going to take the entire village with him and began a dive bomb towards the village grounds. Unfortunately for Mogra, Garmadon tapped into his Oni form and blasted Mogra with a powerful blast of Destruction, seemingly disintegrating the warlord.
Relationships[]
Garmadon[]
It is implied prior to their fateful encounter during the Serpentine War that Garmadon and Mogra had been previously acquainted, during which time at least Mogra became familiar with Garmadon and his history, knowing that Garmadon's title of 'lord' had been bestowed upon him by Chen. During this time, Mogra evidently held some degree of respect for Garmadon, explaining the reasons for his defection during the war and offering Garmadon the chance to do the same. However after Garmadon's refusal of his offer as well as directly defeating him alongside his brother Wu, Mogra grew to develop deep hatred for his former ally. In spite of his longstanding grudge, Mogra nevertheless still seemed to possess some level of respect and acknowledgement for Garmadon and his legacy, for he had specifically attempted to emulate the former dark lord during his reign over Two Moon Village, wearing Garmadon's discarded helmet and commanding Garmadon's former biker gang worshippers as his own army. Any shreds of respect Mogra may have continued to hold for Garmadon however, seemed to have been twisted by a sense of proving himself better than Garmadon, even admitting that he had specifically taken all of these things to end the former dark lord's legacy.

Behind the scenes[]
- Mogra is inspired by Tengu, Japanese mythological creatures.[3]
- In Garmadon Issue 2, it was mentioned in the sketchbook that Mogra's ultimate form is that of a crow. This is a nod to the earlier portrayals of the Tengu, who were known for their ability to transform into birds of prey.
Trivia[]
- Mogra wears the helmet that Garmadon wore after his resurrection in Season 8.
- Mogra's throne bears a close resemblance to Garmadon's throne from Season 9.
- He is the third character to have the title of Lord, the first being Garmadon and the second being Belgrave.
- Mogra shares some similarities with Samukai:
- Both are antagonists who shared a history with Garmadon and Wu prior to Garmadon's banishment to the Underworld.
- Both wield some type of bone axe.
- Both are ultimately overpowered by objects that were supposed to make them more powerful than Garmadon (in Samukai's case, the Golden Weapons, and in Mogra's case, the Two Moon Tea).
- Mogra is also the opposite of Samukai in that he took Garmadon's army and helmet, just as Garmadon took Samukai's army and helmet after he was banished to the Underworld.
- Mogra is one of the few antagonists in the franchise who has never met or fought the ninja.
