The New Ninja are a group of vigilantes fighting crime in Ninjago City. Ever since the ninja went their separate ways following Nya's sacrifice, the team had become inactive which led to them being replaced by the New Ninja themselves. As a result, the two groups became rivals, often getting into conflict with each other.
History[]
Because of the ninja's inactivity after the Great Flood and Nya's departure from the team, the New Ninja were formed and they were hired by Ulysses Trustable, the mayor of Ninjago City, as vigilantes to work for the government and as a replacement for the original ninja. This was due to the fact that the mayor has a strong dislike for the ninja, since they unintentionally caused destruction to the city in the years that followed.
During their tenure, the New Ninja managed to find and capture Pythor P. Chumsworth, who was then re-imprisoned in Kryptarium Prison.[1]
Bad Boys' Night Out! (flashback)[]
The New Ninja discovered Garmadon handing a woman her purse back after scaring off the thugs that tried to mug her, and mistake him for the mugger. When they confronted him, he intended to defeat them with his Oni Form, but Vinny Folson told him not to before he took them all down in one hit.
Farewell the Sea[]
The New Ninja interfered with a crime deal for Vengestone. Miss Demeanor was shocked to see the New Ninja and not the original ninja trying to stop her. After a short fight where Miss Demeanor criticized the way they looked and how she had been expecting the real ninja, she then escaped with Vengestone. Soon, the police and Gayle Gossip arrived also shocked to see the New Ninja. When the Police Commissioner asked who the New Ninja were, they used their smoke bomb and disappeared.
The Shape of Nya[]
The New Ninja saved the ninja when they were being overpowered by Miss Demeanor and her henchmen, due to the Vengestone weakening their elemental powers. Due to the intervention of the New Ninja, Miss Demeanor directs her henchmen to attack them instead, much to the dismay of the ninja. Eventually, both her and her henchmen were defeated and they were taken away by the police. The ninja had to watch as the New Ninja received all the credit for the deed, as well as being congratulated by the Police Commissioner.
The leader of the New Ninja, the Teal Ninja, then reveals to the ninja that they were inspired by them to form their own ninja team and fight crime as well. The compliments soon turned into insults, however, as they began to mock them for being old and "out of shape", which led to a heated conversation with Lloyd. When the Orange Ninja informed her team that they had to go to the mayor, who wanted to thank them, the New Ninja once again used their smoke bomb and left.
Public Enemies 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5![]
When the ninja learned that Aspheera's staff is being moved in a police convoy to a secure location, they used their newly upgraded vehicles, with P.I.X.A.L having added stealth paint, in order to pursue the convoy undetected. When they intercepted the convoy, they discovered that the New Ninja were waiting for them and a fight breaks out between the two teams, in which the New Ninja tried to prevent the ninja from getting Aspheera's staff. During the battle, Kai began complaining to Zane to stop crashing into every building and he accidentally said his name out loud. In response, the Teal Ninja takes Lloyd hostage and unmasks him, revealing his identity. After the ninja escape with Aspheera's staff, the Teal Ninja calls the Mayor and tells him that the clad-in-black ninja were actually the ninja themselves. Angered by this report, Mayor Ulysses Trustable orders him to arrest the ninja, declaring them as public enemies 1 to 5.
A Painful Promise[]
The New Ninja easily break into the monastery and into the hangar bay, due to the ninja having forgotten to close the secret entrance, and a fight once again breaks out while Aspheera was busy trying to drain Nya's elemental power. After Nya was successfully reverted back into her human form, and Lloyd helps Aspheera escape, the New Ninja place the ninja under arrest, though Wu, Skylor, and P.I.X.A.L. were spared. While the rest of the New Ninja escorted the ninja from the hangar, the Teal Ninja stayed behind to deal with the latter three. He proceeded to warn Wu that they don't have any reasons yet to arrest him and that the New Ninja are watching them. Just before he left, he gives Wu, Skylor and P.I.X.A.L a final warning that if they follow the ninja's example then the New Ninja will return before he uses his smoke bomb and departs, using it a few times while on the way out. Out in the Monastery courtyard, the New Ninja escorts the ninja to a police copter, which then took them away.
