This page will outline what is expected when uploading images.

How to upload images[]

Main article: Help:Adding images

Before uploading any images, please make sure the image you're about to upload already exists on the wiki. Duplicate images on the wiki can often lead to confusion on what's been uploaded or not.

While most images uploaded to the wiki will be related to Ninjago, you are allowed to upload images unrelated to the Ninjago franchise. However, these images should not being placed on articles. Finally, any images that are deemed inappropriate will be deleted.

Filenames[]

While not as important as some of the other rules, all images uploaded must have a recognizable name that is related to the subject matter. Do not simply name your file using random alphabets/numbering.

File formats[]

If possible, please upload images using PNG format. JPEG format can be used, but should only be used if there is no other format available.

Licensing[]

All images must have a license of some sort. Most images will be considered "Fairuse" especially if permission was not given. A list of licenses on the wiki is available here.

Quality[]

It is important to add high quality images to the wiki. Low resolution, blurry images, or watermarked images can make it difficult to see the image and can make the wiki look unprofessional.

A reference for good quality is for the image to be 1080p or better. While 720p is generally accepted, most images can be found with 1080p. Please avoid uploading images with a quality less than 720p.

The following are images that would be considered acceptable:

If you find an image that doesn't meet the image policy, please add the category, Screenshots in need of better quality, and if possible re-upload the image to higher quality. Once the image is upload to better quality may the category be removed.

Captions[]

Adding captions are optional, but are recommended when editing pages. Captions can provide context to a situation especially if the image doesn't tell the entire story. When adding captions, make sure to include a period at the end if the caption is a complete sentence. Meanwhile, if you include a sentence fragment, don't include a period at the end.

Photo spamming[]

One of the most common mistakes users make is when they spam images. Photo spamming is when someone uploads every single frame of of a scene. Doing this makes the gallery unnecessarily longer than it needs to be.

Voting[]

If you want to make changes to a character's infobox image, a proposal must be made. The community then votes on whether or not to make changes to that image. Other infoboxes that are not a character may be changed without a vote. However, if you choose to make a proposal for a non-character infobox images and it's successful, a proposal would be required every time you want to change the infobox image for that particular page.

Similarly, if users want to add, replace, or remove any tabber images, you must make a vote regardless if the infobox is a character or not.

The only exceptions to both cases is if:

  • The current images are in low quality or do not meet the image policy criteria;
  • You are uploading the same image, but cropped;
