Nom is the hometown of Seliel and her father.
History[]
Who is the Phantom Ninja?[]
Nom was taken over by a force of Nindroids who occupied Nom's factories, forcing villagers to produce fake Nindroid parts as a decoy operation. Seliel acted as a resistance fighter in the guise of the Phantom Ninja to help repel the Nindroids and free the villagers. Nom was eventually freed from the tyrannical reign of the Nindroids after the ninja and Seliel worked together to defeat and expunge them from the town and its factories.
Prior to Way of the Departed[]
A fraudulent "Master of Water" named Lar traveled through Nom and proclaimed to be the Master of Water, even getting stories of his "legendary battles" to be published.
Way of the Departed[]
Cole journeys to Nom in search of answers regarding the mysteries surrounding the scar on his forehead. There, he reunites with Seliel, who explains that the town is being renovated with materials from Edo period cities.
Cole eventually uncovers that an old villain of the ninja, Clouse, under the alias of the Skullking, has been behind these renovations in an effort to concentrate Edo power. Using this power, Clouse intends to open the scar on Cole's forehead, which is actually a rift to the Departed Realm. By opening it, Clouse will enable Edo sorcerers (including Clouse himself) and their acolytes to return to Ninjago, and possess the bodies of Nom's citizens and his Skulkin warriors.
The Skulkin eventually begin carrying out Clouse's plan, oblivious to his intentions to use them as vessels for resurrected souls. With a brainwashed Karlof leading them in an attack against Nom, Skulkin warriors begin harassing citizens as Karlof fights Cole.

Appearance[]
Nom is a town divided into districts that is centered around their industrial district.
Originally, most of its residential buildings followed the architecture of a traditional Japanese village. However, renovations were eventually made to increase the amount of Edo period architecture in Nom. Similarly, factories were first seen being used to manufacture decoy Nindroid parts but have since repurposed to manufacturing electronic parts for Borg Industries.
Nom is largely unguarded against attack, as it is surrounded by hills to the south, forests to the north and east and barren rock landscapes to the west.

Trivia[]
- Despite being with the rest of the ninja when they visited Nom in Who is the Phantom Ninja?, Cole doesn't initially remember the town upon its mention in Way of the Departed.
- However, he soon regains his memory of his adventures there after reuniting with Seliel later on in the book.
