Oni Land is a territory in the First Land, where the Oni built a stronghold and resided long ago. A divider made of dragon skulls piked on sticks separated it from the rest of the land. As long as the other inhabitants of the realm stayed on their side, the Oni would stay in theirs. It was deserted centuries ago for unknown reasons.
History[]
To steal the Dragonbone Blade from the Firstbourne, Iron Baron and several Dragon Hunters crossed Oni land, but only to discover that the Oni left the Realm of Oni and Dragons a long time ago.[1] Iron Baron presumably killed his group and eventually stole the Dragon Blade from Firstbourne,[2] but at the cost of him losing his arm and leg from the dragon.[3]
Two Lies, One Truth[]
Cole, Kai, Zane, Jay, Faith and teenage Wu all visit Oni land because Wu had faith that the Dragon Armor is there, the ninja are reluctant to go but Faith makes them.
The group finds the Oni stronghold and Faith gets angry that her whole life was a lie, teenage Wu sees a map on the gates of the stronghold.
The Weakest Link[]
Following the tracker planted by Jet Jack, the Dragon Hunters arrived at sunrise outside the border marking Oni Land. Although initially hesitant to cross, the hunters entered into Oni Land under Iron Baron's orders.
Meanwhile, Faith woke up the Ninja, declaring that they had to begin traveling towards the Firstbourne's nest as soon as possible. After briefly discussing the difficulties that lay in the journey ahead, Faith decided to train her allies in using Chain Rifles, emphasizing that they would not depart until everyone had mastered their usage. Eventually, the Hunters caught up with the Faith and the Ninja, resulting in a long chase across Oni Land that ended with Jet Jack's capturing of Faith.
Saving Faith[]
From a vantage point, the Stranded Ninja discover Faith tied up and halfway buried in the ground. In spite of every sign indicating that it was a trap, Wu insisted on saving her, resulting in the Ninja becoming surrounded and subsequently captured by the Dragon Hunters. At nightfall, the Hunters celebrated with a feast, though Faith called out Iron Baron as a liar to the others. In particular, she pointed out that they heard stories from Baron for years about the dangers of Oni Land, but here they all stood there now and none of them had seen an Oni at all! As the Hunters murmured amongst themselves over Faith's remarks, Iron Baron silenced them all with threats of lopping off the hands of those who agreed with her.
After Wu regained his memories and briefly took on the army of hunters single handedly, Iron Baron struck a deal with the young man. In exchange for leading him to Firstbourne's nest, and the dragon armor, Iron Baron would send Wu and the Ninja back to Ninjago. In spite of Faith's warnings not to trust him, Wu agreed to Iron Baron's terms and disappeared deeper into the desert alongside him, leaving Faith and the Stranded Ninja behind with the rest of the Hunters.
Lessons for a Master[]
For the rest of the night, and into the next morning, the Dragon Hunters debated a variety of topics, including Iron Baron, his obsession over the dragon armor, and whether or not to release Faith and the Stranded Ninja. By sunrise, Bonepickers began swirling around the exhausted captives, believing that they would soon expire. In an effort to escape, Faith and the Stranded Ninja began throwing their bodyweight against the sides of the platforms they were chained to. While this plan seemingly came close to working, Jet Jack simply freed the captives instead. Together, the Stranded Ninja, Faith, and the Dragon Hunters put aside their differences in pursuit of a shared interest in stopping Iron Baron. The group would then travel out of Oni Land in search of Firstbourne's nest.
