The Oni Temple was an ancient temple that was constructed by the Oni when they arrived to Ninjago in search of the First Spinjitzu Master. Located deep within Primeval's Eye, the temple is where the Oni Mask of Hatred, the third and final Oni Mask, was kept.
After Harumi was resurrected by the Overlord, she returned to the temple with him and it became the lair of the crystal army, becoming the Crystal Temple. Later when the Overlord used his powers to make it airborne, it became the Crystal Island. Following the latter's defeat at the hands of the Golden Ultra Dragon, the temple was destroyed in the process.
History[]
Background[]
Sometime after the First Spinjitzu Master fled from the Realm of Oni and Dragons and created Ninjago, the Oni pursued him. Along the way, they constructed the Oni Temple, where they carved their origins onto its walls. They also stored the Oni Mask of Hatred within, which could only be obtained by a being with Oni blood within them.
Sons of Garmadon[]
The Quiet One[]
Armed with a map to the temple, Lloyd and Harumi journeyed across Primeval's Eye in search of the temple. After falling down a waterfall and reaching land, Lloyd discovers the Oni Temple hidden between the waterfalls.
Game of Masks[]
Lloyd and Harumi manage to locate the Oni Mask of Hatred within the Oni Temple after passing several obstacles. Harumi attempts to grab it, but a force makes it so she cannot. She then explains to Lloyd that someone with Oni blood can obtain the mask. After Lloyd takes the mask, he soon begins to question Harumi on how she knew that he was part Oni. After a moment of revelations, Lloyd discovers Harumi's true intentions and realizes that she is the Quiet One. A fight then ensues, with it ending with Lloyd throwing the Oni Mask of Hatred over the side of the platform. However, Harumi dives after it, catching it while she manages to use her knife to hold onto the side of the platform.
Armed with the Oni Mask of Hatred, Harumi puts it on, using its powers to jump back onto the platform. Lloyd questions what the mask did to her, where she reveals that it has made her invincible to all forms of damage. After a very brief fight, Harumi reveals to Lloyd that she wants him to feel the pain she has felt following the death of her parents by having Lord Garmadon destroy Lloyd. Harumi then proceeds to flee from the temple with the mask, utilizing her invincibility to flood the temple in an effort to drown Lloyd. However, Lloyd is able to escape in time.
A Sinister Shadow (flashback)[]
After the Liberation of Ninjago, the Overlord revived Harumi after she died and instructed her to travel across Primeval's Eye and go to the Oni Temple. Once arriving, the Overlord told Harumi to place the crystal he gave her onto the Oni Mask of Hatred's pedestal.

Trivia[]
- In its crystalized form, it was briefly called the Crystal Palace in "Crystastrophe."
- The Oni Temple in Crystalized is reminiscent of Mount Cavora from Legends of Chima, as both are rocky mountains floating in the sky, with smaller rocks orbiting around them and the face of a certain being carved into them.
- However, according to Tommy Andreasen the Oni Temple is not based on Mount Cavora as "this is temple which rose out of the ground."[3]
- It seems to act as the dark counterpart to the Temple of Light, as the Temple of Light is associated with the dragons and was used by the First Spinjitzu Master while the Oni Temple is associated with the Oni and was used by the Overlord and also, it's placed on the opposite half of the Dark Island.
- When asked about the destruction of the Oni Temple and how it would affect the Balance similarly to the Temple of Light in the Dark Island Trilogy, Tommy Andreasen stated that he doesn't know what would happen whether there will be consequences or not.[4]
- In "Game of Masks", the Oni shown on the carvings in the Oni Temple are similar to the Vengestone Guards and the Dragonides in Crystalized. It's unknown whether Harumi designed the Crystal Warriors after the Oni carvings or if it's just a coincidence.
