- “This is what teleported you ninja back from Imperium? How does it work?”
- “I do not know. It is mystical, not technological, so it is difficult to scan. But if I can reactivate it, it may help explain the secrets of the Merge, including the whereabouts of those still missing.”
— Alfonzo Frohicky and Zane, "Wyldly Inappropriate" |
The portal gates are mystical gateways that provide entry to the realms. They are renowned for their existence in a singular structure within each realm.
History[]
Background[]
After the Merge, which was caused by the Source Dragons in some manner, the realms were brought together, resulting in the formation of portal gates. The gates were built immediately following the completion of the Merge and were established in specific locations within each realm.[1]
Before I Will Be the Danger[]
When Nya was in the Cloud Kingdom archives, until Sprite led her to a portal gate, which sent her to the Monastery of Imperium.
I Will Be the Danger[]
Sprite leads Kai to the Ninjago portal gate under the Monastery of Spinjitzu. This leads to Kai meeting up with Nya inside the Monastery of Imperium.
The Battle of the Second Monastery[]
Nya suggested a plan to evacuate the dragons by utilizing the portal gate to return to Ninjago. Zane, however, highlighted that the portal gate was designed for smaller transports, meaning that they could not transport the dragons unless they acquire additional energy to power the gate. Following Lloyd's empowerment by Imperium's Source Dragon, he harnessed his dragon powered-Energy to energize the portal gate, enabling them and the dragons to return to the Monastery of Spinjitzu.
Wyldly Inappropriate[]
Zane started investigating the gate that's under the monastery being extremely puzzled that he could not understand on how to open the gate.
The Last Djinn[]
Zane continued to think of attempts to activate the portal gate.
Land of Lost Things[]
While out searching for parts with Cole, Nya discovers a part of the portal gate from the Monastery of Imperium.
The Administration (flashback)[]
Zane's attempts to activate the portal gate underneath the monastery gains the attention of Administration Agents Roderick Allen and SsssSsss Underwood, who detain him and take him with them back to The Administration.
Force From the East[]
Geo and the Finders search for parts and inadvertently rebuilt the Imperium portal gate, just as the Wolf Clan showed up for Bonzle, and, along with Cole, who returned, complete it and use the gate to reach the Monastery of Spinjitzu, where they literally bump into Alfonzo Frohicky before discovering two Wolf warriors managed to follow them.
The Spell at the Waterfall[]
Cole and Zane defeat the two Wolf warriors and send them back through the portal gate just as Sprite touched the plate and shuts the gate.
The Final Game[]
Arin and Cole continue their exhibition into the monastery. Cole theorize each 16 gates is to the original Sixteenth Realms. Wu confirmed this before helping them find the missing dragon horns hung above, here they also find out from Wu that he caused the Merge before scattering across many gates.
Elements of Betrayal[]
After Nokt was drained of all the elemental powers, he and the Forbidden Five retreated to the portal gate that leads to the Cloud Kingdom. Ras tries to intervene, but Nokt knocks him out and drags him to the portal, wanting to take his revenge. Arin, still desperate to find his parents, goes after them before the Forbidden Five destroy the gate to ensure they could not be followed. This resulted in Arin, Ras, and the Forbidden Five to end up being scattered across the Merged Lands. Cole went to the Cloud Kingdom and the monks told him that neither Arin or the Five came out of their portal.
Other appearances[]
Gangs of the Sea[]
