“My suit. I mean, your suit.”
“It's okay, P.I.X.A.L.. It's yours now.”
P.I.X.A.L. and Nya, "The Quiet One"

The Samurai Mech, also known as the Samurai X Mech, is a large exo-suit formerly used by Nya as Samurai X to protect Ninjago from enemy threats.

In search of a mech that would allow them to climb the Wailing Alps, Morro and the Ghost Masters raided the Samurai X Cave and stole the Samurai Mech by possessing it. Eventually, the mech was destroyed by Zane during the ninja's battle with the Ghost Warriors in the Wailing Alps.

As Nya became the Water Ninja, the mech lay unused for a while, before it was utilized by P.I.X.A.L., the new Samurai X but soon destroyed by Vermillion, until P.I.X.A.L. rebuilt the mech to a blue Samurai X Mech.

History[]

Rise of the Snakes[]

Can of Worms[]

Samurai X arrives in the Toxic Bogs inside her mech while the ninja were cornered and sent the Serpentine in retreat.

The Snake King[]

Samurai X used the Mech to fight off the Serpentine. In the City of Ouroboros, Samurai X used the Mech to "fight" the ninja but later gave it up to save them.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy[]

Nya boarded on the Mech, hoping to stop the Serpentine from getting away with the Fangblade. However, she was caught and had her Mech taken away.

All of Nothing[]

Upon reaching the Constrictai Tomb in the Mountain of a Million Steps, Jay and Nya revealed that they reconfigured the Samurai Mech's left arm and added a seat so Master Wu could join them in the battle. The mech was confiscated and chained up with the Golden Weapons, but used in the ensuing battle after Lloyd freed them.

The Rise of the Great Devourer[]

Nya tried to take the Fangblades back from Pythor with the Samurai Mech. When he escaped, she and Wu pursued him on her Mech.

Day of the Great Devourer[]

Nya and Lloyd used Nya's mech to escape the Great Devourer. Later, they used it to attack the snake but got stuck. They were freed when the Ultra Dragon returned.

Legacy of the Green Ninja[]

Pirates vs. Ninja[]

After the ninja had been defeated by Captain Soto's pirates, Nya used the Samurai Mech to board the Black Bounty and subdue the pirates.

Rebooted[]

The Art of the Silent Fist[]

After Lloyd, Garmadon, and the Falcon entered the Samurai X Cave, the Samurai Mech was one of the vehicles present.

Enter the Digiverse[]

When the Nindroids infiltrated Borg Tower, Nya called her Samurai Mech to ward them off.

The Titanium Ninja[]

Nya used the mech to infiltrate Ninjago City but was knocked out after she got hit.

Shadow of Ronin (non-canon)[]

When the Nindroid Army attacked New Ninjago City, Nya used the Samurai Mech to distract them while Borg set up forcefields.

Possession[]

The Temple on Haunted Hill[]

Morro, along with Ghoultar, Bansha, and Soul Archer, journeyed to the Samurai X Cave to obtain one of the ninja's mechs, intending to use it to ascend the Wailing Alps. Once they arrive, they were interrupted by Nya and Ronin. After a brief fight, Ghoultar possesses the Samurai Mech, turning it into a black and green four-armed version of the mech.

Peak-a-Boo[]

Morro uses the Samurai Mech to climb the Wailing Alps. When the ninja arrive at the Hanging Temple, Ghoultar uses the mech to fight the Ice Mech until Zane sends both mechs flying off the mountain, into the snow below.

The Hands of Time[]

The Attack[]

P.I.X.A.L. used the mech to save Lloyd when he fell off his dragon. The samurai then landed the mech onto the temple but flew off before Nya could see who she was. However, the mech was shot down by a Vermillion catapult, destroying the mech and leaving the samurai's status unknown for the time being.

After The Hands of Time[]

Along with the Samurai X suit and VXL, P.I.X.A.L. improved the mech by reinventing it after she became the new Samurai X.

Sons of Garmadon[]

Dead Man's Squall[]

P.I.X.A.L. used it when she was controlled by Harumi. Harumi and Lloyd used it to get off the Bounty. It crashed in the jungle.

The Quiet One[]

Nya managed to find it and give it back to P.I.X.A.L. Later, P.I.X.A.L. uses it to fight the Sons of Garmadon but was defeated.

Dread on Arrival[]

P.I.X.A.L. used it to get to the Ninjago police department.

Big Trouble, Little Ninjago[]

P.I.X.A.L. tried to stop the Colossus with the Mech but was defeated.

Hunted[]

Firstbourne[]

P.I.X.A.L. used the Mech to train Lloyd while they hide from the Sons of Garmadon.

The Gilded Path[]

P.I.X.A.L. tried to stop Garmadon from crushing Nya, Lloyd, and Dareth with the Mech, but Garmadon used his power to blast it out of the sky, and later Killow pulled P.I.X.A.L. from the wreck.

March of the Oni[]

Into the Breach[]

When the ninja heard signals coming from NGTV, the others went to save the people there, but P.I.X.A.L. stayed behind in case Lloyd and Garmadon needed her help. She used the mech to fly above the cloud of darkness.

The Fall[]

When Lloyd finally requested extraction from the corrupted Ninjago City, P.I.X.A.L flew the mech into the cloud of darkness, despite Lloyd expressing concern as to what it could do to her. However, P.I.X.A.L discovered that the mech's fuel had decreased due to waiting up in the sky for so long. P.I.X.A.L managed to use the mech to reach Lloyd and Garmadon and successfully flew it up the side of Borg Tower and out of the cloud, despite the fuel levels being on 1%. While attempting to close the distance between the Bounty and the mech, the mech ran out of fuel and began falling back towards the cloud of darkness. The Bounty appeared just in time to catch them as P.I.X.A.L crash-landed the mech onto the deck of the Bounty.

Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu[]

A Rocky Start[]

The mech was among one of the vehicles P.I.X.A.L. has in the hangar bay.

The News Never Sleeps![]

P.I.X.A.L. used the mech to fend off the Elemental Cobras attacking the city.

The Absolute Worst[]

When P.I.X.A.L.'s radar went off, she used the mech to capture Ultra Violet, the Mechanic, and Fugi-Dove and brought them back to Kryptarium Prison.

Other appearances[]

Winds of Change[]

A model of the Samurai Mech was part of the ninja exhibit at the Ninjago Museum of History.

Samurai X-Treme[]

As Jay and Nya practiced training, they noticed a painting of the mech on the mural. Nya then launched into a detailed explanation of how she would have improved the mech. In her mind, Nya used her suit to defeat a group of Skulkin who attacked a village, and she launched a set of fireworks and played music before flying away.

Kryptarium Prison Blues[]

After losing her powers, Nya saw a drawing of the Samurai Mech and remembered the time she was Samurai X. This inspired her to make another Samurai Mech, which is meant to represent a modified version of the original.

Official descriptions[]

Season 1 (2017 Museum gallery)[]

The Samurai Mech was a large mechanical construct piloted by Nya in her Samurai X disguise. During the struggle between the ninja and the Serpentine, Nya used the Samurai Mech to help turn the tide against the snakes. Weaponry includes a huge katana, a net, multiple projectile launchers and a detachable left fist. A powerful jet pack provided the Samurai Mech with the ability to fly[1]

Season 5 (2017 Museum gallery)[]

During a battle with Nya and Ronin, Ghoultar possesses the Samurai X Mech, turning it into the Ghost Mech (or, as it is also known, Mech-Enstein.) Morro, Bansha, Soul Archer and Ghoultar had originally gone to the cave in search of a mech that could be used to climb the Wailing Alps. The mech proves a great help to the ghosts as they make the ascent. After Ghoultar’s defeat at the hands of Zane and his Titan Mech, Mech-Enstein tumbles off the mountain and into the snow.[2]

70665 The Samurai Mech[]

Pilot the awesome Samurai Mech with Nya—disguised as Samurai X! Dodge Kruncha’s sword attacks and stay clear of Nuckal’s bone axe. Fight back with the mech’s massive katana and double katana. Fire the stud shooters and take down those Skulkin generals![3]

Visual Dictionary New Edition[]

Samurai Mech[]

In Samurai X guise, Nya uses the Samurai Mech on dangerous missions such as battling the Serpentine. It's armed with projectile launchers, a huge katana and a net. Instead of a left hand, the giant robot suit has two backup swords.

Samurai X Mech[]

P.I.X.A.L. fights crime in her Samurai X armour. She has recoloured and improved the mech that Nya wore. P.I.X.A.L.'s blue Samurai X Mech is a motion-controlled battle suit equipped with arm cannons and missiles. It is also able to fly.

Mech-enstein[]

The ghosts are able to possess machinery, as well as people. Samurai X's armoured mech is transformed into a monstrous Ghost Mech, known as Mech-Enstein. The suit has a creepy bone cage for the driver's cockpit and is equipped with jet booster packs and four huge swords.

Choose Your Ninja Mission[]

Ex-Samurai Mech[]

The ghost mech used to be a red robot walker belonging to Samurai X. It is possessed by the spectral power of Scythe Master Ghoultar when the Ghost Warriors invade the Samurai X Cave. From this point on, it turns a ghoulish green and goes by the name of Mech-enstein!

Viral Content[]

The ninja finally learn that Samurai X is their android pal P.I.X.A.L. after she and her mech are infected with a computer virus. When she recovers from the virus, Samurai X becomes a fully fledged member of the ninja team. Nya upgrades Samurai X’s mech to make it more powerful than ever before!

Trivia[]

  • In "The Art of the Silent Fist" it is shown that there were two identical Samurai Mechs stored in the Samurai X Cave. It is unknown whether this is an error or whether Nya had two identical mechs.
  • This is one of the few vehicles to appear in seasons after its debut.
  • Nya's second version of the Samurai Mech, the one from 70596 Samurai X Cave Chaos, was called "XMECH-2."
  • In the sets for Possession, the possessed version of the Samurai Mech was known as the Mech-enstein, and was also called the ghost mech.
  • The flags on the back of the mech translate as "ninja" despite it being the Samurai Mech.
  • Despite the fact that the physical version in the sets has a cannon instead of the right hand for the remodeled Samurai Mech, there are fingers in the show as well as on the left hand.
  • While in the set there are two 44676 pieces with a sticker in the middle of the remodeled Samurai Mech, these stickers are missing in the show. This is one of the few examples where the set design is more detailed than the show design.
