Shadow Wu was the embodiment of Master Wu's doubts and fears that faced him on the Dark Island.
History[]
Dark Island Trilogy, Part 2[]
While under the partial influence of Dark Matter, Wu was bitten by a Dark Matter corrupted insect which caused Shadow Wu to become visible to Wu. After Wu questioned who the figure was, Shadow Wu claimed to be Wu, there to advise him about his destiny.
After Wu claimed that his mind was playing tricks on him, Shadow Wu denied this by claiming to be summoned, then outstretching his hand in partnership. After being rejected then accused of being a deceiver by Wu, Shadow Wu reflected the accusation back at Wu, claiming that it was in fact Wu that was the deceiver for lying to himself and the ninja several times, and also that he was there simply to provide clarity.
He then proceeded to elaborate on the many times when Wu failed to warn the ninja of incoming danger, and accused Wu of forming the team to fight his own battles, not for Ninjago, but for himself, and was as selfish as the First Spinjitzu Master. Wu argued that Shadow Wu knew nothing about him or his father, and wished Shadow Wu to begone.
Shadow Wu told Wu that his journey had no ending, and that his destiny was over. He struck Wu across the face, telling him that darkness would consume him. Wu fought back and eventually landed a strike, causing Shadow Wu to disintegrate into a glowing purple dust.
However, Shadow Wu emerged from the River of Darkness larger than before, and proceeded to grab Wu in one hand, lifting him high in the air while calling him a fool. He told Wu that the Ninja were corrupted, throwing him through the roof of the Destiny's Bounty.
Wu refused to believe Shadow Wu, claiming that he was not real. Shadow Wu screamed out to Wu that he was his doubts and fears, and that he would haunt Wu's every step. Wu proceeded to drink a cup of his tea, and stated that he banished his doubts and fears by facing them head on. Shadow Wu screamed that he would devour Wu, before Wu calmly stated that he banished him, causing Shadow Wu to fade.
Upon the awakening of Master Wu, Shadow Wu was gone.
Personality[]
Shadow Wu is an ill-tempered, ruthless being whose main goal is to extinguish the hope of others under the disguise of providing clarity to them. He is easily angered upon being defied, and seems to reflect the worst internal traits of Wu. He uses lies to get his way, which is evident from when he told Wu that his Ninja were corrupted by Dark Island. He is persistent in achieving his goals, even if it comes down to using violent force.
Appearance[]
Shadow Wu appears as a blackened version of Wu with small, entirely violet eyes and a white beard. His torso is jagged and undefined, and he has a shadowy ghost-like cloud that acts as his legs, similar to Nadakhan. He seems to be able to change his appearance at will, evident from his change in size after being struck by Wu on the Destiny's Bounty.
Relationships[]
Wu[]
Master Wu's internal conflict acts as a vessel for Shadow Wu's existence.
Wu's doubts and fears are what Shadow Wu consists of, which is why he fades away upon Wu banishing his doubts and fears. Shadow Wu's main goal is to extinguish the hope and ambition of Wu in an effort to stop him from fulfilling his destiny by defeating Clouse on the Dark Island. Wu was able to defeat Shadow Wu by banishing his doubts and fears by addressing them and vowing to face them head on.
