Synopsis[]
The Ninja interrogate a shifty shopkeeper about a stolen mallet. Could the ancient tool be connected to the Cloud Kingdom archives — and Lloyd's visions?[1]
LEGO's YouTube Channel: Lord Ras + the stolen mallet AND the Gong of Shattering = serious trouble for the ninja! They better find out what Ras is up to and FAST. (You better cross your fingers, knock on wood, and find a shooting star to wish on!)[2]
ITVX: The Ninja defend the Cloud Kingdom from Ras and see firsthand the power of his new weapon - the Gong of Shattering.[3]
Extended: Following their encounter with Cinder, the Ninja track down information on the stolen mallet. An injured Euphrasia comes to the Monastery for help, and the Ninja return with the Elemental Master of Wind to defend the Cloud Kingdom from Ras and his new Wolf Mask Army. Ras uses the Gong of Shattering to empower the Wolf Masks and Cinder, who unleashes a dark new technique to defeat the Ninja.[4]
Plot[]
The Wolf Clan arrives at the Cloud Kingdom
In the Cloud Kingdom, Suetonius started to ask the writers for any ideas to make the Cloud Kingdom more lively until the writers find that their quills won't work. Suetonius states that it was said that when the writers were no longer able to write, something dreadful was coming. A loud rumble occurs, as the Wolf Clan appears in the distance. Suetonius orders a Cloud Monk to summon Euphrasia.
Meanwhile, Percival Tartigrade addresses a group of Imperians in a speech, talking about his vision for the City of Imperium. As he finishes his speech, Euphrasia falls from the sky into the desert and Percival runs to help her.
At the Monastery of Spinjitzu, the ninja have gathered in the courtyard to discuss Lloyd's visions, and the Mallet of Shattering being stolen by Cinder. Curious as to what the object is, Lloyd, Zane, Arin, and Sora head to the Crossroads to question Fedulian.
Sora questioning Fedulian
Once there, they ask him about the mallet, offering to help catch the person who stole it from him. Feddulian claims he doesn't know what the mallet is or what somebody would use it for and declines their help. Sensing deception, they climb to the roof of Fedulian's shop to listen in on him. Fedulian calls his associate Hantro about the mallet. Sora recognizes the graffiti behind Hantro, and so they follow her.
Hantro tells the ninja the myth about the Mallet and the Gong of Shattering
Lloyd, Zane, Arin, and Sora run in Hantro in an alley. After trying to attack them with junk, Hantro clues them in about the myth regarding the Mallet and Gong of Shattering. She tells them about the goodness in people and how wearing a Wolf Mask while the gong is ringing erases it to make the user stronger.
Back at the monastery, the ninja briefly discuss whether or not to believe Hantro. A knock is heard from the door, and Percival walks in dragging Euphrasia. She tells the ninja her story.
Euphrasia vs. Cinder
As the Wolf Clan approached the Writers of Destiny, Wolf Mask Warriors overpowered them. Euphrasia arrived and Cinder began to fight her, eventually knocking her out of Cloud Kingdom. She tried to get to the Monastery of Spinjitzu, but instead crash landed outside Imperium where Percival found her. As she ends her story, Lloyd theorizes that the Wolf Clan is trying to find something in Cloud Kingdom.
The ninja arrive in Cloud Kingdom on the Destiny's Bounty and sneak towards where the Writers of Destiny are being held hostage by Wolf Mask Warriors. They duck into an alley, where they knock out two Wolf Mask Warriors to find Suetonius, upside down hanging. He begins to recount his story.
Ras cursing the Scroll-Worms
Ras and Jordana had made their way to the Cloud Kingdom archives, with Suetonius and Marcus close behind. Suetonius tries to prevent Ras from going further, and Ras reveals that he was the one who placed a curse on the Scroll-Worms. The worms shoot at Suetonius, hence why he was hanging in a cocoon like wrapping.
The ninja, about to face the Wolf Warriors
After being cut down, Suetonius tells the ninja about the Ritual of the Blood Moon and the Forbidden Five. He spoke of their downfall, a mysterious force from the East, and how eventually, their teachings and culture were banned. Then, the ninja are discovered by Wolf Mask Warriors and they begin to fight while Euphrasia and Suetonius take cover. After banter with Ras and Jordana, Ras hits the Gong of Shattering with the Mallet of Shattering, activating the Wolf Masks on the Wolf Mask Warriors, turning them into Wolf Mask Claw Warriors. Lloyd recalls his vision and the ninja begin to fight them. Ras continues to hit the gong and Cinder introduces himself to the fight.

Cinder showing off the power of Shatterspin
Ras decided to showcase Shatterspin, a forbidden form of Spinjitzu that only Elemental Masters can perform by studying the teachings of the Forbidden Five. Cinder performs Shatterspin after wearing a Wolf Mask following Ras' activation of the Gong of Shattering. Utilizing Shatterspin, Cinder engages in a relentless battle with the ninja until ultimately incapacitating Wyldfyre by breaking her leg. The ninja were left with no choice but to retreat on the Bounty, pondering their strategy to counter Shatterspin. In light of these events, Ras declares that the journey towards the Blood Moon will persist.

Trivia[]
Cultural references[]
- The title could be a reference to the classic song, Shattered Dreams by Johnny Hates Jazz.
Continuity[]
- Kai references fighting Ash during the Tournament of Elements in "Versus."
- Hantro releasing butterflies to attack the ninja is similar to how Garmadon in The LEGO Ninjago Movie used the Butterflies of Shaolin in an attempt to attack Wu.
- It is revealed that Lord Ras is the one who cursed the scroll worms, a mystery introduced in "Writers of Destiny." However, the reason behind him doing so remains unclear.
- Sora made the grafitti that leads the ninja to Hantro. It is in the shape of a cat's face which corresponds with her cat aesthetic.
- The ninja being forced to retreat after being overpowered in their battle against Cinder is similar to when they had to fall back following their encounter against Morro (possessing Lloyd) in "Winds of Change."
- In both cases, one ninja insisted on continuing the fight, the first being Kai when he stayed behind to try to pry Morro out of Lloyd's body and this time Lloyd says to stay.
- Wyldfyre is the third ninja to receive a leg injury, the first was Lloyd in "Return of the Overlord" and the second was Jay in "Spy for a Spy," but in this instance her left leg got injured whereas Lloyd and Jay had their injuries on their right legs.
- Lloyd would later injure his right leg again as seen in "Clues and Suspects".
Errors[]
- When Sora walks towards Arin, her legs can be seen placing still and not moving at the end of the animation.
- When Lloyd says "we're ending of your occupation of the Cloud Kingdom" and "I've never even heard of this," his gloves are black.
- When Zane says "scanning" at the Crossroads, his mouth doesn't move.
- When one of the Wolf Warriors threatens one of the Cloud Monks with his sword, he uses one of Ras' growl soundbits.
- Cinder is not credited.
