Official description[]
Enter a New and Terrifying Realm - The Wyldness! Garmadon comes face-to-face with a new foe: the Lycan King! But as the truth behind the Wolf Clan and the power of Shatterspin are revealed, Garmadon faces his most terrifying challenge: training new students![1]
Plot[]
As the Lycan King stares down at the children, Balun carries the unconscious Garmadon and tells Asa to start running away. Asa looks down at the Mallet of Shattering in front of him and, out of curiosity, picks it up. This enrages the Lycan King, making it attack Asa. Warby jumps on Asa, pushing them both away from the Lycan King's attack. Zuri tries to slow the Lycan King down using a slingshot. The children run away. Warby asks why Balun is carrying Garmadon and the latter replies that they need to ask Mama Mawa how Garmadon opened the Shadow Dojo. Iriel notices the Lycan Kings's inability to get through the gorge and Warby and Asa taunt the beast. The Lycan King strikes the gorge, and it starts to crumble.
Garmadon wakes up with a headache and sees Asa in front of him. The rest of the children emerge from the rubble and realize they are trapped. Warby blames Garmadon for their situation and Garmadon asks Asa for the mallet. Garmadon throws the mallet in hopes it would help them escape to no avail. The confused Garmadon wonders why throwing it at the rubble had no effect when the Lycan King prepares to howl. Balun explains that its howl will turn them to stone if they get caught in it. Warby yells at Garmadon to get them out of here. Garmadon agrees and Iriel tells him to hurry. Suddenly, Garmadon's eyes flash blue and voices speak to him. They instruct Garmadon and he follows. He manages to perform Shatterspin and punch the rubble. The children stand in confusion and awe and Garmadon asks them what happened. Warby tries to explain it when the Lycan King howls. Garmadon and the children dodge the attack. Balun tells them to get on the boat and they all sail away.
Garmadon asks the children what the Lycan King is and who they are. Iriel explains that the Lycan King is a beast that haunts the woods. She, along with Balun and Warby, introduce themselves. Iriel tells Garmadon about Zuri and helps Asa introduce himself. Garmadon introduces himself too. Zuri reminds Iriel that Garmadon is their prisoner and should not be so friendly to him. Garmadon approves of her decision.
Outside Mama Mawa's house, Mama Mawa helps Buck Buck pluck a carrot from the ground while she remarks on the poor harvest. Zuri calls out to Mama Mawa and the latter is delighted to see them. Zuri explains that Garmadon unsealed the Shadow Dojo and shows Mama Mawa the Mallet of Shattering. Garmadon continues, saying he found it in the Shadow Dojo and seems to have learnt a different fighting style after entering it. She recognizes the fighting style as the Forbidden Five's arts and they go inside her house to discuss further.
Inside, the children drink soup while Mama Mawa asks Garmadon if he came from another realm. He confirms her suspicions and adds how he came out of need for a power that could stop a war in Ninjago but only found the dying land. Iriel explains that the Wyldness used to be beautiful and Garmadon asks what caused the realm's devastation. Zuri asks Mama Mawa if they can trust him and the latter says she believes so, adding that it is clear his heart is in turmoil. Garmadon refutes her claim, saying he knows who he is and why he is here, but Mama Mawa is doubtful.
Mama Mawa goes on to explain how the Forbidden Five ruled the Wyldness and lead the Wolf Clan. She says Shatterspin was the source of their strength and that it required one to harden their mind, body and spirit into iron in order for one to access its true power. She continues, saying once a warrior had mastered Shatterspin, they were given a Wolf Mask. She explains that the Five's rule did not last forever but their legacy lives on due to their lost ultimate power. She explains that if someone mastered Shatterspin, possessed a Wolf Mask, had a spark of Elemental Mastery, and used the mallet to ring the Gong of Shattering, that person would be able to use Shatterspin in all the realms at any time. Mama Mawa tells Garmadon that with Shatterspin, he could win all wars or even fix the destitution of the Wyldness. Garmadon asks what would happen if someone without an Elemental Power rang the gong. Balun and Iriel explain that one would lose everything. Gamadon realizes someone rang the gong before and caused the fall of the Wolf Clan. He asks who did so and Mama Mawa explains it was Lord Argus.
Mama Mawa describes Argus as a warrior of the Wolf Clan who mastered Shatterspin, one who was completely devoted to the Forbidden Five and the leader of the Wolf Clan after the Five were gone. He knew the Clan's power was fading without the Five around. One day, he was approached by Zaiden Kane, a sorcerer who claimed they were looking for a possible Forbidden Sixth. Zaiden Kane convinced Argus that the latter might be that sixth. Argus rang the gong, knowing it was the way to join the Forbidden Five's ranks. But because he was not an Elemental Master, he turned into the Lycan King. Zaiden made the Spectral Crown to control the transformed Argus. The Wolf Clan Warriors managed to drive Zaiden Kane from the Wyldness. Garmadon asks if all of the Wolf Clan were transformed to stone, and Mama Mawa says no. She says that the five children, Balun, Warby, Asa, Iriel and Zuri, are the last children of the wolf. She continues, saying only the children can defeat the Lycan King but they need to learn the ways of their ancestors. She believes fate brought Garmadon to them and he will help the Wolf Clan rise again. She tells Garmadon he will be their teacher.
