Ship Wrecked! is the 71st issue of the Ninjago Magazine that was released on January 6, 2021. It includes 892071 Cole (a Spinjitzu Burst Cole minifigure with drill weapons) and Jay appears on the cover. The comic, written by Jan Dinter, is called Stranded.
Stranded[]
The ninja are leaving Shintaro Mountain after defeating the Skull Sorcerer and Hazza D'ur. Cole is upset having to leave, but Nya and Jay assure him that Shintaro will be safe under Vania’s rule. They also encourage him to feel good that he is the hero of the hour. Jay jokes that he is feeling second rate and goes to do something helpful. He goes to Wu and offers to take over flying the Destiny's Bounty. He asks where they’re headed and Wu tells him “wherever the wind takes us”. Jay takes this literally and lets the wind guide his steering. This leads the ship directly into some rocks.
Cole jumps off the ship, ready to use his power to move the boulders. However, he finds that some of the boulders aren’t boulders, but stone turtles. They pile on top of Cole, trapping him between them. The ninja freak out and tell him to use his Spinjitzu Burst to free himself. He tries to activate it, but it doesn’t work. Realising it’s taking too long, Zane suggests they use their Elemental Powers to scare the Turtles away. This works, freeing Cole and coaxing the Turtle stack to river. Cole thanks his friends and returns to the Bounty, which is still stuck.
Wu notices that much of the nearby lake is formed by some rocks blocking the water’s flow. He suggests that freeing the boulders may release the water and help to dislodge the ship. The ninja reach the blockage and Jay suggests Cole’s Spinjitzu Burst to move the boulders. Cole tries to focus in and taps into his Earth powers. He gathers energy and releases. However, all that he produces is a small energy blast. Cole sits down in despair, thinking he has lost his new power already. Nya assures him that powers don’t just go away. She reminds him that, to perform the Burst, he needed to be completely surrounded by his element. He was able to do it last time because they were underground. Lloyd then suggests they all use their Elemental Powers on the rocks to move them. This plan is successful and the dam breaks, sending wave over the rocks and freeing the Bounty. Wu flies the ship back over to the ninja. With the ship free and all aboard, they continue their flight onwards.
