Source Dragon of Strength   Strength
We cannot get involved with mortal problems. It only poisons us and our powers. Weakens us!”
— The Source Dragon of Strength, "Casket of Bones"

The Source Dragon of Strength is one of the seven Source Dragons. Hence his name, he represents the source of Strength, serving as the foundation for all the Elemental Powers related to his source.

History[]

Background[]

The Source Dragon of Strength, among the seven Source Dragons, played a crucial role in maintaining balance across the realms. Each Source Dragon represented a unique source,[7] with the Source Dragon of Strength specifically embodying strength. As a result, the emergence of Elemental Powers was influenced by the Source Dragons.[8] On a fateful day, the First Spinjitzu Master approached the Source Dragon of Strength, along with his fellow dragons, and humbly implored them to willingly contribute their dragon energy. This request was made in order to create the Dragon Cores, which were instrumental in averting the Coalescence,[9] an imminent event wherein all realms would merge into a single world, a consequence brought about by the immense power of the Source Dragons.[10] The Source Dragon of Strength, along with the Source Dragon of Focus and another dragon, opposed the idea of relinquishing their energy to the First Spinjitzu Master. The decision was contentious, resulting in a divided vote until the Source Dragon of Balance cast the decisive vote, ultimately compelling Strength and the other Source Dragons to contribute their energy.[11]

When Thunderfang, the dragon of Chaos, attacked the City of Temples after being rejected from the Council of Sources, the council decided to send the mortal avatar of the Source Dragon of Focus, the Arc Dragon of Focus to stop the Chaos dragon. After having completed its task, the avatar of the Focus Source Dragon was split into two halves, which were put into a deep slumber.

When the Merge occurred, the Source Dragon of Strength's influence over the Merged Realms allowed him to create two new Elemental Powers, Fusion[12] and Surface Tension.[13]

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

Beyond the Phantasm Cave[]

The Source Dragon of Strength along with his companions summoned Lloyd to their void. Upon seeing the Green Ninja, the Source Dragon of Strength acknowledged Lloyd as an Elemental Master and asked about his Elemental Power, leading to the Source Dragon of Life declaring him as one of theirs and a descendant of the First Spinjitzu Master. The Source Dragon of Strength assured the Source Dragon of Motion that mortals posed no threat to them, even with the realms combined. The Source Dragon of Strength held a low opinion of Lloyd, but the Source Dragon of Energy disclosed that Lloyd served as a conduit for his Energy. The Source Dragon of Energy felt grateful to Lloyd for freeing him, so he asked the other five to reconsider their policy of not getting involved in human matters.

Dragons Rising, Season 3[]

Casket of Bones[]

Upon discovering Thunderfang's plans to become a Source Dragon after his death, the Source Dragons gathered to discuss their response. The Source Dragon of Strength argued against interfering in mortal affairs, out of fear that it would corrupt their essence and weaken their powers. In contrast, the Source Dragon of Motion insisted that Thunderfang represented a serious threat to their existence, regardless of the Strength Dragon's concerns. The Source Dragon of Life reminded them that their current troubles originated from aiding the First Spinjitzu Master and making their promise to him. The Source Dragon of Strength recalled his opposition to granting any gifts of any kind to the First Spinjitzu Master, while the Source Dragon of Motion noted that the decision had been contentious, ultimately influenced by the late Source Dragon of Balance. The Source Dragon of Motion suggested summoning the Arc Dragon of Focus, the only one capable of defeating Thunderfang permanently. However, the Source Dragon of Focus hesitated, prompting the Source Dragon of Motion to remind them that mortals could potentially summon them without their help. The Source Dragon of Strength dismissed this idea as impossible, but the Source Dragon of Motion disagreed saying mortals could awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus by awakening the two halves and focus upon soul energy. It was at this moment that the Source Dragon of Strength noticed Lloyd eavesdropping on their conversation, causing a sudden disruption in his vision.

Chaos Reigns[]

The ninja’s decision to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus against Thunderfang resulted in a fallout. Along with Life and Focus, Strength were angry the Ninja dare command the Focus's personal avatar without their consent and withdrew from the Council, leaving only Motion, Flow, and Energy behind. Motion defended the Ninja's actions from Flow that while improper it had spared the council from Thunderfang's wrath. But Energy grieved the price of that decision, as without Focus, Life, and Strength, the balance of Elemental Power unraveled, casting all Elemental Masters into impending chaos. Flow warned that their broken unity had betrayed the vow they once made to the First Spinjitzu Master.

Other appearances and mentions[]

Fallen Wishes[]

Ras disclosed to Arin that during his tenure in Imperium, he successfully managed to contain the Source Dragon of Energy with the assistance of the Imperians. However, he was unable to contain the Source Dragon of Strength, as the Imperians lacked the capacity to manage two Source Dragons simultaneously. Consequently, this limitation prevented him from using the Icon of the Source Dragon of Strength to summon them.

The Shatter Dragon[]

During his confrontation with the ninja, Thunderfang inquired about Lloyd's role as a conduit. Upon speculating that Lloyd might be linked to the Source Dragon of Motion, Thunderfang suggested that the Green Ninja could be the conduit for the Source Dragon of Strength, labeling the latter as self-obsessed.

Personality[]

The Source Dragon of Strength seems to be respected by his other fellow Source Dragons, and seems to have a good relationship with them. He becomes quite annoyed and unmotivated to help when it comes to mortal affairs. When Lloyd was summoned, he showed little interest towards him, apparently seeing nothing special in him; they all however agreed to help Lloyd when the Source Dragon of Energy begged them to aid Lloyd, like he helped him get free from his captivity back in Imperium. He is described by Thunderfang to be self-obsessed. He is also pathologically altruistic, believing that helping mortals will only taint his and the other Source Dragons’ powers. Additionally, he seems to be slightly nihilistic, as he agreed with Focus on immediately withdrawing from mortal affairs, despite knowing Thunderfang would destroy the world, including them and chose to leave the Council of Sources alongside Focus and Life when the Arc Dragon of Focus was awakened against their will despite knowing that could throw reality into chaos.
