Plot[]

The newly-powered Crystal Council with their Weapons of Destruction, stand before the Crystal King
After returning to Ninjago, the Overlord tells Lloyd how his grandfather, Garmadon, and the ninja have failed to defeat him many times. As Lloyd believes that there's still hope to stopping the Overlord, he promises to destroy Lloyd's hope and uses his powers to grant the Council of the Crystal King new powers and the Weapons of Destruction, and begins to move the Crystal Temple airborne. He offers a chance for Lloyd to join his side, but he refuses, kicks the Scythe of Destruction into the central crystal, sending the temple tilting to the side, and manages to break free of his Vengestone chains. Vangelis recovers the Scythe and flies after Lloyd, only to be knocked aside by a Vengestone statue.

The Crystal King awakens his Vengestone Guards
The Overlord, after rightening the temple, orders the Council to hunt down and destroy Lloyd through the temple, with Harumi being overall reluctant to do so. As the chase occurs, the Overlord awakens his Crystal Warriors. Lloyd is eventually cornered by the Crystal Council (except Harumi). He tries to convince them that the Overlord will destroy everything, but the Mechanic says that the Overlord will not destroy them, and the Council throw their weapons at Lloyd, although he dodges and the Weapons cause an explosion, due to the immense power of all four Weapons at once. As he escapes, Harumi leads the members to go the opposite way that Lloyd went, and Lloyd gets chased by a Vengestone Guard. Lloyd manages to save himself from falling off the temple.

Lloyd drags Harumi off the Crystal Temple, pummelling down into Primeval's Eye
Harumi arrives and convinces Lloyd to join the Overlord's side, but he still refuses, and decides to jump off the Crystal Island and take Harumi with him as the rest of the Council watch in confusion and shock, even refusing to jump after them. Lloyd manages to swim out of the river with Harumi. Back at the Samurai X Cave, the ninja try working on their vehicles, but fail to get them working. Suddenly, Lloyd's tracker goes off, alerting the ninja of his location at Primeval's Eye. In order to save Lloyd, Wu and the others decide that they must break the law twice and steal back their old vehicles and the Destiny's Bounty back, to which they all agree to.

Trivia[]
- Narrator: Lloyd
- This is the third time that the First Spinjitzu Master is directly referred to as Lloyd's grandfather, with the first two being "Two Lies, One Truth" and "The Fall."
- This is also the second episode where Lloyd is referred to as "son of Garmadon," with the first episode being "The Spider's Design."
Continuity[]
- The Overlord mentions his previous fights with the First Spinjitzu Master during the Stone Wars and with the ninja and their allies during Legacy of the Green Ninja and Rebooted.
- The Overlord mentions how Garmadon fought him yet failed even though Garmadon never fought the Overlord directly. It is possible this was referencing Garmadon trying to resist the Overlord after he possessed him in "Return of the Overlord."
- This episode shares similarities and parallels with "Island of Darkness."
- The scene where the Crystal Council are being powered up and receive their respective Weapons of Destruction (save for Harumi for the latter) can be seen as a malevolent version of the ninja receiving their Kimono robes and Elemental Blades (save for Lloyd for the latter) at the Temple of Light.
- Both groups proceed to brandish their new weapons and powers against their enemies, with the Crystal Council against Lloyd, and the ninja against the Stone Army in "Island of Darkness," forcing them to retreat.
- Lloyd indirectly mentioned to the Merlopian Palace, that while they were looking for an escape, Nya remarked that the palace was like a maze during "Long Live the King."
- Mister F creaks his neck like Mr. E did in "Dead Man's Squall".
- Aspheera saying "Ninja can't fly," might be a possible nod to when the ninja previously used Elemental Dragons and Airjitzu before Sons of Garmadon, as both were methods of flight used by the ninja.
- Pythor claims that he always knew he'd be Lloyd's final opponent, a nod to the fact that Lloyd was the one who released him in Rise of the Snakes.
- The Council throwing their weapons at Lloyd, only for him to dodge and the power of the Weapons causes an explosion to knock everyone else back might be a possible but paralleled reference to the end of "Weapons of Destiny," where the four original ninja tried to high-five each other with the Golden Weapons, only for an explosion to happen and push the ninja and Nya back once they came in contact with each other.
- Strangely, Aspheera had previously asked if it were unwise for the weapons to be so close together in "A Painful Promise," but seemed to forget in this moment.
- This episode marks the second time Lloyd escapes from the Overlord's clutches, the first being in "Enter the Digiverse."
Errors[]

The first scene of Vangelis without wings.

The second scene of Vangelis without wings.
- When Lloyd kicks the Scythe of Destruction out of Vangelis' hands, Mister F is gone but reappears in the next shot.
- There are two instances where Vangelis' wings disappear; the first time when he and Pythor are impressed by the Overlord's power, and the second time is when he and the other members of the Council begin to corner Lloyd. Interestingly, he can be seen floating without them in the latter instance.
- When the Crystal Temple was rising to the sky, a rock floating outside the temple clipped through the crystals at the bottom and went in and was later seen outside again in later episodes.
- When Harumi orders the Council to stand down, the Mechanic's eyes are normal, instead of pink.
