These are the relationships of the Dark Lord, the Overlord.
Allies[]
Stone Army[]
The Stone Army was created by the Overlord during their master's war against the First Spinjitzu Master. They are loyal to whoever has the Helmet of Shadows.
During the Final Battle, when Dareth took control of the army by wearing the Helmet of Shadows, the Overlord wasn't concerned with his minions being gunned down by Nya.
Nindroid Army[]
The Overlord, by possessing P.I.X.A.L., creates an army of Nindroids based on Zane's blueprints. They were his main army during Rebooted.
Pythor P. Chumsworth[]

The Overlord and Pythor
Pythor brought the Overlord back online to help him get the Golden Power to become the Golden Master. The Overlord was shocked at Pythor restoring him, though he gained a liking for Pythor after he saw how vile and cunning he was and both worked to capture Lloyd.
The Overlord started to show respect to Pythor, going as far as to include Pythor as an ally during the attempted Golden Master apocalypse. Pythor respected him in return, protecting him from the ninja's attack and ended up being shrunk.
However, the Overlord would have gotten rid of or betrayed Pythor eventually.[1]
The two cross paths again and ally once more to destroy the Ninja. However, despite the Anacondrai’s loyalty to his master, the Overlord was not above expressing disappointment in Pythor for failing to capture the Ninja and nearly killed him, along with the rest of the Council, until Harumi intervened with news that could help them locate the Ninja and their allies.
Harumi (formerly)[]

The Overlord and Harumi
Some time after Season 9, the Overlord met with Harumi, telling her that she would revive her if she became her herald. Harumi accepted the offer, was brought back to life and started following orders from a crystal given to her by the Overlord. She returned to the Oni Temple and transforms it in to the Crystal Temple. The Overlord introduces himself to Harumi. While initially reluctant to serve the Dark Lord due to her believing that he will destroy everything, the Overlord calmly explains to the revived villainess that he wants to destroy the Balance and eliminate all conflict in Ninjago, so that there will be peace in the dark. Hearing the Overlord's supposed intentions, she agrees to serve him and begins smuggling Vengestone in order to build him the Crystal army.
While she sides with him during the battle against Lloyd and Garmadon, she eventually turns against him after the Overlord sadistically reveals to the father and son that he was the one who corrupted the Great Devourer, the monster responsible for killing Harumi's biological parents, and come to the realization that he never wanted peace. Subsequently, Harumi then joins Lloyd and Garmadon in defeating the Crystal King.
Enemies[]
First Spinjitzu Master (archenemy)[]

The Overlord battling his nemesis.
The Overlord acted as the First Spinjitzu Master's dark counterpart to counterbalance of the Balance between light and shadow. The Overlord and the First Spinjitzu Master waged war on each other and battled for decades, each of them evenly matched and neither able to defeat the other and gain the upper hand, until the Overlord created the Stone Army to help him turn the tide in his favor. The First Spinjitzu Master did what he could, but he knew he would soon be defeated, so he divided Ninjago in two.
Garmadon (former ally)[]

The Overlord's spirit encounters Garmadon.
The Overlord met Garmadon after the latter washed up in the Dark Island. He aided the villain for his plans to rule Ninjago. But in reality, the dark villain used the four-armed villain to upset the balance so that he can be free and rule Ninjago in his image. The Overlord possessed Garmadon in his attempt to conquer Ninjago.
After he was defeated, the Overlord unintentionally cleansed Garmadon of all the evil plaguing him for centuries.
Years later, the two would come face-to-face during the Final prophecy of Quanish the Elder. Garmadon was not hesistant about trying to destroy the Crystal King, and despite the reformed Oni's immense power, even he was no match for the Overlord, who easily overpowered Garmadon and Lloyd. The Overlord taunted Garmadon about how he was the one who corrupted the Great Devourer and sent it against him, resulting in his downfall to evil, and for a brief moment, the Overlord believed that he had succeeded in killing the elder son of the First Spinjitzu Master.
Lloyd[]
- “Your grandfather fought me and failed. Your father fought me, and also failed. You tried twice and failed just like your forebearers.”
- “You know what they say, third time's the charm.”
- “You still hope. Admirable, but foolish. Watch as I crush that hope.”
— The Overlord and Lloyd, "The Coming of the King" |
Being the grandson of his archenemy, the Overlord abhors Lloyd, as he was the one destined to defeat the Dark Lord once and for all. During the Final Battle, the Golden Ninja seemingly destroyed the Overlord for good. However, it was revealed in Season 3 that Lloyd only destroyed the Overlord's physical form, and that his spirit, though extremely weak to the point of nonexistence, was nonetheless alive in the systems of Borg Industries.
Throughout the Nindroid crisis, the Overlord remained focused on capturing Lloyd to drain him of his Golden Power so he could fulfill the Serpentine's prophecy of becoming the Golden Master.
Years after Zane sacrificed himself to destroy the Golden Master, Lloyd would end up meeting the Overlord once again, this time as the Crystal King.
Unlike his previous attempts to eradicate the Green Ninja and his allies, the Overlord was somewhat civil to Lloyd and offered him a chance to live, if he would stand by Harumi and do his bidding like she would. However, after Lloyd gave the dark entity a firm "no" as a response, the Overlord immediately sent his Council to go and destroy him.
The Overlord was destroyed for a third time when Lloyd rode upon the Golden Ultra Dragon and delivered a tail swipe that destroyed his centaur form.
Wu (temporary ally)[]
Though Wu and the Overlord haven't interacted much, the Dark Lord nonetheless despises Wu, mostly due to the old Master being a descendant of the First Spinjitzu Master.
In "The Art of the Silent Fist", the Overlord captures Wu and implores for him for information on the Ninja's whereabouts. Refusing to give into his demands, the Overlord has Cyrus Borg assimilate the sensei into a cyborg, becoming Techno Wu.
In "Brave But Foolish", Wu confronts the Overlord on top of the Crystal Island and engages in a duel with him. The Overlord remarks to Wu that his father never really won against him, and only split the island in two to avoid being destroyed. The Dark Lord then casts Wu off of the floating island.
Zane[]
Though the Overlord views all of the Ninja as major enemies of his, he seems to detest Zane more than the rest of them (excluding Lloyd). In "The Titanium Ninja", Zane latches on to the Overlord's Mech in hopes of destroying him. However, due to the sheer power of the Mech, forged from the Golden Weapons, Zane is unfortunately destroyed, but takes the Golden Master down with him, by producing a massive blast of Ice, which freezes everything around them.
During the final prophecy of Quanish the Elder, Zane, piloting his Golden Dragon Jet, attacked the Crystal Island and shot missiles at the structure, causing it to tilt sideways. The Overlord then remarked that Zane's vehicle had some sort of shielding mechanism which was immune to the crystals.
