| "That's not what happened at all!"
This article is about something not canon to either the storyline of the TV show or The LEGO Movie franchise.
Narrator: "On a tropical island, Monk, the future Monkey Wretch, is hard at work doing repairs on ships and boats."
(Monk is seen repairing nearby ships and boats.)
Narrator: "He was the island's best mechanic. Incredibly fast. Doing four or five projects once. Never stopped to take a break. Until one day he got a new visitor—a curious little monkey who was eager to learn some new tricks."
(The monkey then goes to where Monk is repairing a ship and analyses how Monk is doing his job and copies him while trying to repair another ship until this gets Monk's attention.)
Monk: Wait a minute.
(As the monkey keeps imitating Monk's every move, they finally fight over a saw.)
Monk: It's mine! Give it to me, silly monkey!
(Nadakhan suddenly appears.)
Nadakhan: Hello. I heard that the fastest ship mechanic lives on this island.
Monk: Yes, that's me. I'm the fastest and the best.
Nadakhan: Very well...I have three wishes to give.
Monk: (elated) Oh well! I wanna be the best mechanic in the world, and so fast it's like the tools are part of me, and I want the monkey gone.
Monk: Don't listen to him, he's just a monkey.
Nadakhan: And so will you be.
(Nadakhan combines Monk and the monkey with a toolbox to form Monkey Wretch.)
Nadakhan: Monkey Wretch. (laughs wickedly.)
(Monkey Wretch jumps on the soon-to-be Misfortune's Keep.)
Narrator: "And with the skills of Monkey Wretch at his side, a ship was built. Bigger and more terrifying than any ship ever sailing the seven seas. Forever the pirate. Forever in the proud crew of Misfortune's Keep."
