- The non-canon character Lar is introduced. He is shown to be the Master of Water, as this book was released before Nya was revealed to be the Master of Water in Season 5.
- In chapter 4 of Way of the Departed, Seliel mentions that Lar had convinced the people of her village that he was the Master of Water. "He had even duped a local publisher to release fake stories about his 'legendary' battles," implying that his appearance in this book is just a fake story created by him.
