“Curiosity. Balance. Wisdom. Honesty. Generosity. Courage. These are the Six Fundamental Virtues of Spinjitzu. Through these qualities, a true ninja is forged.”
The Virtues of Spinjitzu, also known as Six Virtues,[1] is a series of Ninjago shorts preceded by Season 14 and succeeded by Season 15, though it takes place between The Island and Season 14.[2] Some scenes of it were released on LEGO.com on January 3, 2022, as cut-scenes for the Journey to Mastery online game.[3] Each short is dedicated to one of the six ninja. The shorts exist to promote the subtheme called Ninjago: Core, devoted to introducing young children into Ninjago with sets that stand on their own without show content.
Now is the time to take your ninja skills to the next level. You must upgrade all the crucial virtues you have learned. Be prepared to seize your moment. This is your destiny![4]
All shorts released on LEGO.com on January 3, 2022, were cut-scenes for a game and "don't make much sense."[5] Full shorts were released later on YouTube.
There also exists a seamless edit of them,[5] which was released on February 22, 2022. The shorts originally seemed to be released in this way only, as there is not much space to display the title card at the beginning of each and, as shown in the 22-minute version, each starts exactly where the previous one ended.
Each of the shorts focus on each of the ninja and revisit past Ninjago settings that were introduced in the WildBrain era.
These shorts are the first installment where Cole is voiced by Andrew Francis.
In "Honesty," Zane and the Ice Emperor appear to exist as separate beings, even though they were shown to be the same being in Season 11. However, this error is justified in "Courage," in which it is discovered that all the ninja's adventures were manifestations created by Wu using his elemental essence to teach them the six Virtues of Spinjitzu.
When asked if it will be canon to the TV show, Niek van Slagmaat replied that "The short answer is not directly. There will be several shorts featuring some of the models from this wave, but they will not pick up [where Seabound left things.]"[6][7]
When asked the same question, Tommy Andreasen responded, "By the end of the approx. 22 minutes, you should be able to make up your own mind about it."[8]
There is a trailer for the miniseries on the official LEGO website narrated in Latin American Spanish by Pedro D'Aguillón Jr. (Wu's voice in Latin American Spanish). This suggests that a Latin American Spanish dub of the series was planned. Because the dubbed version was never released, this leaves two possibilities: either the shorts were never dubbed, or it was dubbed but is now considered a partially or completely lost media.[9]
