I agree with a handful of these, but I also have some different ideas.
I agree that Rise of the Snakes would’ve been about a year after the pilots, the ninja seem to be a lot more experienced and well-trained, but still have some naivety, and haven’t unlocked their true potentials yet, so not TOO long
Also agree that there was probably only one or two days between Rise of the Snakes and Legacy of the Green Ninja. They were still looking for a place to live in the first episode of that season, and I doubt they would’ve slept outside or wherever for more than one or two nights at most
I mostly agree about the gap between Legacy of the Green Ninja and Rebooted, but I think it might’ve been even a little longer, like 3 or 4 years. I say this because“New Ninjago City” had to have been an extremely time-consuming project and must’ve taken a long time to build. The ninja (Lloyd especially) also seem to be a lot more mature and well-trained, and it makes sense that they would be as battle-hungry as they were if it had been years since their last big mission. I think that this is, by far, the largest time gap between seasons.
The next one I don’t agree with. I think the gap between Rebooted and Tournament of Elements wouldn’t have been anywhere near as long as a year, like maybe a few months at most. I’m going to say between 1-2 months. I think this because after a year, I think the ninja would’ve moved on from Zane a little more. Not that they would MISS him any less, or that they wouldn’t be sad anymore, but that they would realize they couldn’t spend their whole lives grieving him and would have to move on. And we see Lloyd trying really hard to get the others to stop isolating themselves and to start working as a team again and to not give up. While we certainly get the impression that it’s not the first time he’s done this, (on the contrary, actually) if he had been doing it for a YEAR, I think even someone as stubborn and strong-willed as Lloyd would realize he wasn’t getting through to them and would lose some of his determination to get the team back together.
I also think the gap between Tournament of Elements and Possession would be shorter. Lloyd still seemed pretty raw about his dad, and while I get grief lasts a long time, I find it hard to believe he would wait a whole year before opening up to Kai. However, as we know, Lloyd is a master of bottling up his emotions and pretending he’s fine when he’s not, and he seemed to have moved on a little more than the ninja had from Zane in the last season, so I think it’s definitely been longer. Maybe like 6-8 months?
I think the gap between Possession and Skybound would’ve been longer than a week, Morro was a pretty intimidating villain and I think the team- especially Lloyd- definitely would’ve needed time to recover from that. However, if I remember correctly, this was the season where they got really famous, and I think the ninja would probably get the most attention when they had just defeated a villain. If it had been a long time since season 5, I think that popularity would’ve ebbed a bit. So I’m going to say, maybe 3 or 4 months.
I agree with the next one, a year between Skybound and Day of the Departed seems about right. Really not much to say about this one, except that Cole seemed pretty comfortable with being a ghost by this point. Also I like to imagine that the ninja actually got a little downtime for once, so a year is nice.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t understand why the gap between Day of the Departed and Hands of Time would only be an hour? I honestly don’t really know with this one, but I think it would be at LEAST a couple weeks. There really aren’t many clues for this one, but I feel like since Day of the Departed was a one-off special, it would be more in the middle of the seasons released before and after it. I’m just going off on a whim here, but I’m gonna say like 6 months.
The gap between Hands of Time and Sons of Garmadon, like you said, is one year. This was actually confirmed in-show, so nothing to debate here.
The gap between Sons of Garmadon and Hunted was undoubtedly very short. You said a week, I think that is probably the absolute maximum though. I’d say more like 1-3 days.
Since this post was made a while ago, that’s as far as you got. But I’ll just add my own theories for the seasons that have been added since then just for the fun of it!
The gap between Hunted and March of the Oni likely wasn’t very long, seeing as they were still rebuilding the city after the destruction of Hunted. Then again, it appears to be MOSTLY intact by this point, and we saw the city had a LOT of damage done to it by the time Garmadon was defeated in the last season. I’m going to say, 2-3 weeks.
The gap between March of the Oni and Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu was somewhat confirmed when Master Wu said it had been “months,” however, that really only tells us that it had been at least 2 months and less than a year. By the way the ninja had sort of “lost their touch,” I have the feeling it’s more on the longer end of that spectrum, so maybe like 9-11 months.
I think the gap between Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu and Prime Empire was probably somewhere between 6 months to a year. I’m a little more general with this one because I’m not really sure, but at the beginning, the ninja were fighting the Mechanic, who is more of a low-level threat and probably something the police would’ve usually handled. If the ninja are fighting him, they likely don’t have much better to do, meaning they’ve had plenty of time since their last big battle. They also seem pretty in-sync and coordinated at the beginning, which hints at lots of time training.
Next is the gap between Prime Empire and Master of the Mountain. This one seems to be a very short gap, as the ninja have a lot to do around the monestary- it seems like they have only just recently gotten back from their latest escapade and are having to clean up. Cole also claims that “it’s his day off” indicating that they just recently fought Unagami and he thinks he deserves a recovery period. I think it has probably been somewhere from a few days to a week.
There’s also the gap between Master of the Mountain and the Island, but seeing as the Island literally JUST came out, like, a week ago, I haven’t had a chance to watch it, so I have no idea about that.
I know this is is an old thread, and I probably just wasted a half hour of my life typing this out for nothing, but oh well. I enjoyed talking about it :)
