When the ninja arrived at the pyramid, the Thunder Dragon stood on the opposite side of the lava along with the green dragon the ninja fought earlier and a red dragon. After Cole was able to make it to the other side, Cole realized the dragon were not enemies when the red dragon licked him playfully. The dragons then assisted the ninja who were struggling to get across with the Thunder Dragon helping Kai, Lloyd, and Nya.
Jay rode the dragon and used to attack the Whack Rats blocking the ninja's path to the finish line. After Lloyd purposely got shot by one of the Whack Rats and respawned near the finish line, Jay purposely gives himself up by allowing his dragon to be shot. The dragon respawned near the finish line and Jay, Nya, and Zane rode it through the next portal.
While fighting the Re-Awakened, Jay asked where his dragon went.
Jay rode his dragon to where Wu was being held hostage. After Kai destroyed the force field, Jay used his dragon to defeat on of the dragons. When Lloyd asked him if the lessons were real, Wu told him that reality was all in one's perception, looking at the roof of the monastery where the Thunder Dragon was flying.
