Scythe of Quakes   Tread Assault
Cole's Scythe of Quakes became the Tread Assault, a rugged dune buggy with powerful wheels that could ride over the toughest terrain.
— An excerpt from Snake Attack!

The Tread Assault was a large roadster used by Cole. It resembles a big black 4x4 vehicle with elements corresponding to Earth. The Tread Assault can be summoned by focusing one's mind on a weapon (in Cole's case, the Scythe of Quakes).

History

Snakebit

After Wu told the ninja they are capable of using their Golden Weapons as vehicles, Cole summoned the Tread Assault to retrieve the Fangpyre Staff for the anti-venom. However, they all lost control of their vehicles and are unable to summon them again.

Never Trust a Snake

On the Destiny's Bounty, Cole was fixing his Tread Assault.

Can of Worms

The ninja rode down on their vehicles (except Kai) to Ninjago City.

The Snake King

When the ninja discovered that Lloyd was missing, the ninja rode on their vehicles, including Cole to Ouroboros.

The Royal Blacksmiths

The ninja, including Cole, rode down to Ninjago City to see Cole's Father.

The Rise of the Great Devourer

Cole and the others rode on their vehicles to catch up with the Serpentine to try to stop them from getting to Ouroboros. On the truck, Skales went to hypnotize Cole, but he activated his Assault and fired a rocket at Skales, and the other Serpentine fled.

Day of the Great Devourer

Cole and the others used their vehicles to evacuate the Destiny's Bounty and again later to travel to Jay's parents' junkyard.

Trivia

  • This is the only Golden Weapon vehicle to have a shooter in the Season 1 sets.
  • It is the only Golden Weapon vehicle yet to be remade in the Legacy line or to be seen in Tales from the Monastery of Spinjitzu.
    • The Earth Driller was chosen over this vehicle for the Legacy line because the Earth Driller is more recognizable and the Tread Assault would have had to be more modified from its original design due to the standards being different from those in 2012.[1]
  • The set has a feature where the vehicle flips over, and on the underside, there are green colored features included to make it looked like a snake vehicle in the event that Cole is on an undercover mission or a Fangpyre bites the vehicle. This can be seen in the show model's concept art and in the series itself. However, it was never used in action on-screen.
