Responding to reports of a ring of chicken thieves terrorizing a village outside of Ninjago City, Wu and the Ninja rushed off to the village to respond to the threat, only to discover that the culprits were foxes. As the team wandered through the village afterwards, they eventually made it to the town marketplace, discovering that the annual Turnip Festival was in full swing. With Wu's blessing, the Ninja began to enjoy the town's various turnip themed festivities, including a sampling of their famous turnip donuts. When Jay suggested that the team should see a traveling puppet show performing at the festival, the mere mention of the word, "puppet" triggered a memory in Wu who immediately snapped, "NO PUPPETS!" After being pressed about his reservations about puppets, Wu sighed and began to tell the next part of the story of his and Garmadon's journey.
Following the regaling of Wu's story, Cole, who was still uneasy and on edge, briefly snatched one of the puppets being used at the traveling puppet show, thinking it was one of the sentient puppets described in Wu's story. After realizing his mistake, Cole apologized and the team prepared to pick up some more turnip donuts before heading back home, unaware that a long forgotten relic from Wu's past watched them from the shadows of the departing puppet show...
