- “Unfortunately, the tea only makes you more of what you are.”
- “So for normal people like us, it just heals our wounds much faster.”
- “But for otherworldly beings like ghosts, dragons, djinns, and even Oni such as yourself, it can amplify your already considerable powers tenfold! Albeit temporarily.”
— Renzo and Kenzo to Garmadon, Garmadon Issue 1 |
Two Moon Tea is a special tea found in Ninjago that can be brewed from using Glimwillow Lilies. Its properties have been described as, "making you more of what you are." When consumed, the tea rapidly heals the drinker's injuries, but for certain beings with supernatural powers, the tea also temporarily amplifies their powers. For ordinary humans, the tea has no other effects outside of rapidly healing wounds.
History[]
Garmadon Issue 1[]
Sometime after the Oni's invasion, Garmadon found himself in the Two Moon Village after rescuing two of its villagers from a bear in the nearby Glimwillow Woods. As he arrived, Renzo and Kenzo, the village's elders and leaders, were counting and loading barrels of Two Moon Tea onto a wagon to be given as payment to Mogra when they realized they were one barrel short. The brothers' ensuing argument would be interrupted by the arrival of Garmadon and the villagers, one of whom stated that her mother was hurt. In response, Renzo called for a cup of Two Moon Tea to be brought over, explaining to Garmadon its properties as he handed it to Saeko. Garmadon was skeptical of the claimed properties of the tea until Saeko's injured leg fully healed seconds after she drank the cup of tea. When Kenzo offered Garmadon a cup as well, the former dark lord shrugged, still skeptical about the tea's properties, but drank the cup anyway, remarking that it couldn't be worse than lake water. To his surprise, Garmadon found himself completely energized by the tea, with his powers over Destruction returning to him.
Some time later, Renzo and his brother would give Garmadon a tour of their village's tea brewing operation, to which Garmadon noted was "Impressive for such a dumpy town." During the tour, the elders explained to Garmadon the history of the tea and the processes they utilized to harvest the Glimwillow lilies used to brew the tea, admitting that they have since had problems with the bears of Glimwillow Woods. The elders then offered Garmadon the entire wagon of tea barrels as payment should he be able to take care of the village's bear problem, a proposition Garmadon agreed to before drinking one of the barrels, feeling a surge of energy rush through him as he declared that Ninjago would finally be his at last.
Garmadon Issue 2[]
The next day, as Garmadon, Min, and the Two Moon Village Commandos journeyed in search of Kuma's lair to defeat the titular Guardian of Glimwillow Woods, amongst the supplies the group brought with them was a barrel of Two Moon Tea, which had been given to Bron, one of the Commandos, to carry.
Later, as Garmadon engaged a particularly large bear with extensive scarring that the group mistook as Kuma, Bron hurled the barrel of tea towards Garmadon for the latter to empower himself with. Unfortunately, since Garmadon was preoccupied, Bron only succeeded in striking the former dark lord in the face, causing him, and the barrel of tea, to be swallowed whole by the large bear. While inside the bear's stomach, Garmadon drank the barrel of tea to unleash his Oni form, escaping from the bear's jaws before blasting it away with a powerful burst of destruction and claiming victory over Kuma. Unfortunately, the fighting succeeded in awakening the real Kuma, who revealed herself to be as large as the mountain she dwelled in.
Following a fierce, but ultimately victorious, fight against the real Kuma this time, Garmadon briefly fell to his knees, suddenly exhausted and weak. Min explained to him that his exhaustion was most likely caused by his drinking of an entire barrel of Two Moon Tea, for drinking too much of the potent tea in one sitting runs the risk of developing certain known side effects.
Garmadon Issue 3[]
After returning to Two Moon Village, Garmadon and his party were surprised to discover that the village had since been engulfed by flames and was besieged by the Red Crows and their leader, Lord Mogra. Following Mogra's orders, Ultra Violet and several other bikers were busy loading a wagon with barrels of Two Moon Tea while others ran around the burning village, pillaging any valuables they could get their hands on.
As Garmadon and Mogra later dueled to a standstill, Garmadon attempted to turn the tide by empowering himself with Two Moon Tea, only to discover to his surprise that Mogra too could empower himself with the tea.
Garmadon Issue 4[]
Following Mogra's victory over Garmadon in their duel, Mogra gathered up the remaining residents of Two Moon Village and proclaimed himself as their new ruler in order to "protect" the Two Moon Tea from falling into the wrong hands. Unbeknownst to Mogra or his forces, however, Saeko had secretly returned to the village and filled a pouch with Two Moon Tea before departing once more. She would later give the tea to an injured Garmadon after hearing some persuasive words from her daughter, realizing that she had forgotten that they need to do the right thing for the good of others. After pouring the tea into Garmadon's mouth, Saeko and the rest of the villagers watched as Garmadon was enveloped in blinding light.
Garmadon Issue 5[]
In the moments leading up to the Liberation of Two Moon Village, Mogra empowered himself with the Two Moon Tea before ordering his forces to attack, initiating the start of the battle. He would take another drink of the tea later on in the battle as his forces retreated to breathe fire on Kuma in a fit of frustration and rage. During his final duel against Garmadon, the former dark lord would forcibly empty all of Mogra's containers of Two Moon Tea into the warlord's mouth, supercharging him beyond his abilities to control his powers. Enraged, Mogra vowed that if he was to die, he was going to take the entire village with him and began a dive bomb towards the village grounds. Unfortunately for Mogra, Garmadon tapped into his Oni form and blasted Mogra with a powerful blast of Destruction, seemingly disintegrating the warlord.

Trivia[]
- The effects of the tea on humans are similar to the effects of the tea that Mystake gave to Lloyd in "Big Trouble, Little Ninjago." However, Lloyd is partly Oni and dragon, so it probably couldn't be the same tea.
