These are the relationships of the former king of Shintaro, Vangelis.
Family[]
Vania[]

Vangelis and Vania
Vania is Vangelis' daughter. He was shown to have a strong bond with his daughter at the start of "Into the Dark," calling her his 'heart'. In "The Skull Sorcerer," he admits that he loves her, but he is forced to hide things from her for her own protection. When he revealed himself as the Skull Sorcerer, he told Vania that if she rescues Cole and Wu, she would no longer be considered as his daughter. After his defeat, he wanted to persuade her to let him go, but she let him be taken away.
Allies[]
Hailmar (formerly)[]

Vangelis and Hailmar
Hailmar is the former right-hand of Vangelis. While serving under Vangelis, Hailmar did not know the king's true identity and followed every order he was given, including locking up Chompy as well as arresting the ninja after being told that the ninja were "traitors."
When he learned that Vangelis was the Skull Sorcerer, he stood up to him and fought with the ninja. After Vangelis was stripped of his Dark Magic, he begged for mercy, but Hailmar took him away.
Hazza D'ur[]

The Skull Sorcerer with the Skull of Hazza D'ur
Hazza D'ur was an ally of Vangelis and the creator of the Dungeons of Shintaro. At first, Vangelis tasked the Lowly to bring him one of Hazza D'ur' remnants so it could be destroyed. However, the King of Shintaro later on changed his mind and was encouraged by the evil sorcerer's powers, claiming that they can be useful for the Ivory City. This in returned allowed Hazza D'ur to return to the Dungeons of Shintaro by possessing his skull and let Vangelis used it a personal weapon for him.
Grief-Bringer[]

In order to strike fear in the Geckles and Munce, Vangelis revived Grief-Bringer and used the deadly beast to enslave the Geckles and Munce as well as to force the ninja to surrender themselves.
To show his power, Vangelis attempted to use Grief-Bringer to kill the ninja; however, his plans are thwarted when Cole and the Upply arrive to save everyone.
Re-Awakened[]

Vangelis and the Awakened Warriors
The Awakened Warriors made up the majority of the Skull Sorcerer's army. They were completely controlled by him due to the power of the Skull of Hazza D'ur.
With his own army, Vangelis mainly used them to watch his enslaved workers from getting tired. When all of his workers were freed by the ninja, he used the Awakened Warriors as well as Grief-Bringer to retrieve the freed Geckles and Munce.
Aspheera[]
- “Very impressive.”
- “Praise from the fallen king. Worthless! But the admiration of Aspheera, Empress of the Serpentine. That is a praise.”
- “You dare!”

Vangelis is accused by Aspheera
In "The Council of the Crystal King," the Kabuki Mask revealed that there was an impostor among the council. All the villains, including Aspheera, were shocked and tried to find out who it was. Aspheera first accused Vangelis because he was the only one wearing a mask.
In "The Fall of the Monastery," Aspheera expressed her desire for revenge, but Vangelis reminded her they were after the Golden Weapons.
In "The Coming of the King," shortly after the Overlord raised the Crystal Temple into the sky, Vangelis expressed his praise, but Aspheera immediately stopped him, saying that praise from a fallen king is nothing, but praise from a Serpentine Empress, that it already means something. Vangelis was angered by this insult, but before he could do anything, the Crystal King stopped the argument.
In "Return to Primeval's Eye," when the Crystal Council was sent to search for Lloyd and Harumi, Aspheera informed Vangelis that she saw something green, which annoyed Vangelis since they were in the jungle.
Harumi (formerly)[]

Harumi arguing with Vangelis
In "A Sinister Shadow," it is revealed that Harumi began to gather Vengestone by buying it from Vangelis. One day, she went to the Kingdom of Shintaro and learned from Vangelis that the ninja are coming. Harumi believed that the ninja will ruin everything, but the King of Shintaro claimed that there's nothing to worry about, and he can take care of things by himself if things go wrong.
A year later, Harumi managed to bust the king out of his cell and recruited him to join the Council of the Crystal King and take his revenge. Vangelis accepted the offer and put on the mask.
Vangelis was not present to see Harumi defect to the ninja’s side during the Final prophecy of Quanish the Elder, after the latter discovered that the Overlord was responsible for her parents’ deaths.
Enemies[]
Geckles and Munce[]

Vangelis saw the divide between the Geckles and Munce and took advantage of their bitter hatred for one another by stealing both Blades of Deliverance. He then enslaved most of the Geckles and Munce to work in the mines.
While the two tribes were working, he would punish his workers if they slacked off or attempted to revolt against his rule. Although both tribes despised Vangelis' reign, the Geckles and Munce were too busy loathing each other.
After the Geckles and Munce found common ground with each other, they fought together and watched Vangelis stripped from his powers after losing the Skull of Hazza D'ur.
Ninja[]

The ninja were seen as the greatest threat to Vangelis' control of the Dungeons of Shintaro. The ninja freed the Geckles and Munce from the Mines of Shintaro, which deprived the workforce needed to mine Vengestone. Furthermore, Kai, Zane, Lloyd, Nya, and Jay organized a truce meeting in order to unite the Geckles and Munce against their common enemy, the Skull Sorcerer.
When they were captured, Vangelis revealed his true status as the Skull Sorcerer and taunted them on how he previously got rid of Cole.
Despite being recaptured, Plundar and Adam helped free them as they joined the fight along with the rest of the Upply, Geckles, and Munce. After Vangelis is stripped of his powers, the ninja watch him being taken away by Hailmar.
Cole[]

Out of all the ninja, Vangelis abhors Cole the most. The Earth Ninja was the first to discover the Dungeons of Shintaro as well as the first ninja to discover Vangelis' true identity.
The Skull Sorcerer taunted the ninja and revealed that he banished Cole to Rock-Bottom, but Cole returned to free everyone and fought Vangelis. During the fight, he gibed Cole for having too much faith in the Blades of Deliverance and insulted Cole's late mother. He then blasted Cole with the Skull of Hazza D'ur, but this inspired Cole to unlock the Spinjitzu Burst, destroying the Skull of Hazza D'ur and stripping Vangelis of his powers. Vangelis begged Cole for mercy and was horrified when he allowed Vania to imprison her father.
When he and Cole battled a year later with the former using the latter's crystalized Scythe of Quakes, he claims that what had happened to him were lies. After gaining the upper hand, Vangelis states that the Crystal King wants Cole but says he wants to kill him instead. Just when he was about to attack Cole, Korgran stops him, allowing Cole to reclaim the Scythe and used it to trap Vangelis.
Upply[]

Originally, Vangelis was willing to work together with the Upply; however, the group knew about the Dark Magic the Skull of Hazza D'ur contained and advised Vangelis to destroy it. Realizing the Upply knows the secret, he presses a button, causing the group to fall through the pit and to be stuck at Rock-Bottom until Cole, Wu, and Vania arrive.
The Upply were able to escape with the help of Cole and they return to fight the Awakened Warriors. After the Skull of Hazza D'ur was destroyed, the Upply watched Vangelis being taken away by his former guards.
