These are the relationships of the former king of Shintaro, Vangelis.

Family

Vania

“If you do this, you will be my daughter no longer! You will be nothing to me!”

Vania and Vangelis

Vania is Vangelis' daughter. When he revealed himself as a Skull Sorcerer, he told Vania that if she helped the ninjas, she would no longer be his daughter. After his defeat, he wanted to persuade her to let him go, but she let him take him away.

Allies

Hailmar (formerly)

“It is with great honor, King Vangelis, that I present the famed Ninja of Ninjago.”

Hailmar and Vangelis

Hailmar was the former right-hand of Vangelis. While serving under Vangelis, Hailmar did not know the king's true identity and followed every order he was given including locking up Chompy as well as arresting the Ninja should they return to the surface.

When he learned that Vangelis was the Skull Sorcerer, he stood up to him and fought with the Ninja. After Vangelis was stripped of his Dark Magic, he begged for mercy, but Hailmar took him away.

Skull of Hazza D'ur

The Skull of Hazza D'ur was owned by Vangelis, which Upply acquired for him. The skull obeyed the orders of the Skull Sorcerer while filling him with evil.

Grief-Bringer

“Hear me, Geckles and Munce. Hear and bear witness to the power that is mine! Look upon those who defied me. Look upon those in whom you placed your trust, and watch as they come to their end. Release Grief-Bringer!”

In order to strike fear in the Geckles and Munce, Vangelis revived Grief-Bringer and used the deadly beast to enslave the Geckles and Munce as well as to force the Ninja to surrender themselves.

To show his power, Vangelis attempted to use Grief-Bringer to kill the Ninja; however, his plans are thwarted when Cole and the Upply arrive to save everyone.

Awakened Warriors

Skull Sorcerer, Skull of Hazza D'ur and two Awakened Warriors

The Awakened Warriors were Skull Sorcerer's army. They were completely controlled by him because he was awakened by Skull of Hazza D'ur.

Enemies

Geckles & Munce

“It was no great task. The Geckles and Munce are simple creatures, easy to deceive, and I knew they would blame each other.”

Vangelis saw the divide between the Geckles and Munce and took advantage of their bitter hatred for one another by stealing both Blades of Deliverance. He then enslaved most of the Geckles and Munce to work in the mines.

After the Geckles and Munce found common ground with each other, they fought together and watched Vangelis stripped from his powers after losing the Skull of Hazza D'ur.

Upply

Originally, Vangelis was willing to work together with the Upply; however, the group knew about the Dark Magic the Skull of Hazza D'ur contained and advised Vangelis to destroy it. Realizing the Upply knows the secret, he presses a button causing the group to fall through a trap door and to be stuck at Rock-Bottom until Cole, Wu, and Vania arrives.

The Upply are able to escape with the help of Cole and they return to fight the Awakened Warriors. After the Skull of Hazza D'ur is destroyed, the Upply watch Vangelis being taken away by his former guards.
