The wastelands are a desert region from the Sea of Sand[1] that were relocated near the First Land after the Merge. It was terrorized by Dorama's puppet.

Background[]
At some point after Dorama's imprisonment by Cole and Zane, the puppet had a Prismatic Blade put inside its head, causing it to gain sentience and attack the villagers in the wastelands.
After the Tournament of the Sources, Arin, who was dragging Ras on a sled, was attacked by the puppet as well while passing there, and lost his Grapple Gun.
A video of the puppet was later discussed about by the Intelligent George, who sparked Frak's attention.
The Missing[]
Lloyd, Frak, Zane, Sora, Riyu, and Zanth landed in a small neighborhood in the Wastelands when Dorama's puppet started attacking Zanth. The four ninja fought the puppet but were unable to defeat it. Frak then discovered the Blue Prismatic Blade lodged in the puppet's head. He pulled it out, causing the puppet to power down. The residents of the neighborhood thanked them for taking Dorama's puppet down. Later, while digging through the puppet's head, Sora found Arin's grapple and tracks on the ground. Riyu sniffed the tracks, and the ninja started to follow them.

- It was revaled in "Conspiracy!" that Dorama's puppet was terrorizing the Sea of Sand. However, in the maps of the Merged Lands, the island of Ninjago does not physically border any lands other than Imperium, meaning that it was moved there following the Merge, similar to how a part of Stiix as seen in "Flying Lessons."
